Councilmember Michael A. Brown joins in paying tribute to legendary Godfather of Go-Go, Chuck Brown
Washington, DC-
At-large Councilmember Michael A. Brown extends his deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late Chuck Brown. The Grammy nominated artist known as the “Godfather of Go-Go” was the driving force behind the popular Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers and whose decade’s long career leaves behind a heritage of music enjoyed by generations of fans. In a city full of International Diplomats, Chuck Brown was our local Diplomat of smooth grooves and feel good beats. Chuck Brown was as proud of D.C. as D.C. was of him.
“I fondly recall meeting Chuck Brown when I was about ten years old and I’ve been a fan of his and Go-Go since. Sadly, DC has lost a legend that can never be replaced,” stated Councilmember Michael A. Brown.
Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced. However, a city-wide memorial is expected.
