[WardFive] Letter to the Editor

Letter to the Editor

The Washington Post

1150 15th Street NW

Washington, DC

Dear Editor:

Editorials by Ms. Jo-Ann Armao and the editorial board of The Washington Post have been filling trash landfills for years and validate the need for sanitation workers.   The editorials of Ms. Armao may also demonstrate why there is a heightened intellectual rodent infestation in the District’s political discourse which continue to polarize people, rather than work to unify and positively persuade people.

Ms. Armao is out of touch not only with the people of Ward 5, but also with the majority of the electorate of the District of Columbia.  Ms. Armao and the editorial board of The Washington Post are quick to expose the misconduct of others, while failing to own up to their own questionable professional ethics.

Ms. Armao’s editorials are weak in content, because Ms. Armao has a closed mind to the principle of fairness and intellectual honesty.

On Tuesday, 15 May 2012 the voters of Ward 5 will have the opportunity to unify and to move Ward 5 forward.  In this special election, there is a field of Democratic candidates seeking their vote to represent them on the Council of the District of Columbia.

As reflected in a national party platform mission statement, the Democratic Party of the District of Columbia has a purpose and a vision.  District Democrats want a District of Columbia and an America that gives all citizens the chance to live out their dreams and achieve their God-given potential.  District Democrats want a District of Columbia and an America that is still the world's strongest force for peace and freedom. And District Democrats want a Ward 5, a District of Columbia and an America that is coming together around enduring values, instead of drifting apart.

Over the years it has been the Democratic Party of the District of Columbia, not the Republic Party which has fought for ALL people and defended freedom and justice for ALL people regardless of their individual status.  Contrary to the views expressed by Ms. Armao and the editorial board of The Washington Post, voters of Ward 5 support high ethics in government and excellence in community service.   Voters of Ward 5 should continue to support the principle values, traditions, and sprit of inclusiveness of today’s District of Columbia Democratic Party and the Ward 5 Democratic Committee to secure what is best for Ward 5’s political future and vote for a DEMOCRATIC candidate on May 15th.

Ms. Rae Zapata

Ms. Ruth Marshall

Mr. Delano Hunter

Mr. Drew E. Hubbard

Ms. Amanda Broadnax*

Mr. Kenyan McDuffie

Ms. Shelly Gardner

Ms. Kathy Henderson

Mr. Ron L. Magnus

Mr. Frank Wilds

[*Ms. Broadnax has announced she is no longer a candidate; however, her name remains on the ballot.]

Robert Vinson Brannum

Chair, Ward 5 Democratic Committee
