[WardFive] Thanks to my neighbors

Hi Neighbors,

Sometimes it is nice to see that we do care about each other.

Below is what one of our neighbors shared about our community with me and I
am sharing it with you.

REMEMBER - SPEAK TO EVERYONE!

Have a blessed day.

Just a note of thanks to my neighbors for doing the little things that make
a big difference in creating a safe and caring community; stuff like....

saying "good morning/ good day/hey/etc. to folks walking down the street"
even if you don't know them.

Not having to always speak first is also a wonderful gift from my neighbors.
I don't mind at all speaking first, but can I tell you how tickled I am when
you beat me to the punch (dang did I tell my age with that or what :-)

sharing the sidewalk. when you are walking with someone else and I approach
you, it feels right that we all make gestures of accomodation. and when a
greeting ( see above) is added, I think everybody feels more "at home", and
that can only be a good thing, right?

I also want to thank you for smiling at all of the children. They and our
elders are our prized posessions, aren't they? A smile back from our
youngest and and oldest neighbors lights up the whole block! It's nice to
walk into a space that's been radiated with smiles! big thanks for that!!

And last but certainly not least--- Big Ol' thanks for cracking those
curtains and looking outside when something or someone disturbs the
wonderful peace we enjoy around here.

I am especially grateful for it tonight and every night when coming home in
the dark means extra caution but thanks to you it doesn't mean fear. And for
me no fear means my senses are more aware, I can react smarter and quicker
if the need arises, and most of all I know someone will care if they hear a
person in distress.

I may not have said it to you lately; and to be honest I may not have said
it as directly as this ever to you. So without much ado, I just wanted to
send long overdue, thanks to my neighbors for being, well-- neighborly!
