Mr. Bellamy,
Could you have T0C look into the traffic pattern and signaling for this intersection? Thanking you in advance.

Subject: [WardFive] Another Car Accident: 13th & Michigan Ave NE
Just heard on Ch 4 News that there was a major accident at 13th & Michigan Ave NE. Traffic is being diverted.
This has been a problemed intersection for many years. I've come upon at least 4 accidents at this area since the start of the year. The timing of the lights are a major problem. If you are going east on Michigan Ave towards MD, the light is extremely long in favor of drivers turning left onto 13th St. But going west into DC, you are held at this light for an extended period of time with only about 12 secs to get through the intersection.
Further problem going West/East on Taylor St NE from this intersection. Going West you get about 12 secs, and the same for going West. Real problem during rush hrs. With only 3-4 cars being able to go through creates a back up all the way to 12th St at times. Don't let one of the solid waste haulers needing to go in either direction. They are sometimes the only ones to get through. Pedestrian crossing at this intersection is also a problem.
I ahve reported this traffic light timing problem to DDOT many times over the years, and the same for many DC and MD residents. This is one of the problems of importance Ward 5 residents need to focus on for change. Shouldn't have to wait for someone to get killed.
