[WardFive] Statement on latest attack to D.C. self-governance

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – June 12, 2026

Public Announcement

Washington, D.C. deserves a government that is stable, accountable, and guided by local leadership. No matter who holds local office, it is essential that residents maintain the ability to manage their own affairs without unnecessary federal involvement. Home Rule represents a long‑standing commitment to democratic self‑governance for the more than 700,000 people who live and work in the nation’s capital.

Protecting Home Rule is not tied to any specific candidate or political outcome. It is about ensuring that decisions related to public safety, education, and city services remain with the community they directly affect. As the election season continues, we reaffirm the importance of responsible local governance and the principle that D.C. residents should have the same voice in their local affairs as residents of any other city.

The United States Constitution guarantees elections free from coercion or intimidation, ensuring that every citizen can vote without fear or pressure. Constitutional provisions, criminal statutes, and federal civil rights laws work together to uphold fair elections and protect each citizen’s right to an uncoerced vote.

At this time, I encourage all members of our community—regardless of background, neighborhood, or perspective—to support one another and strengthen the shared values that make our city resilient. Unity and civic engagement remain essential to sustaining a strong, self‑governed Washington, D.C. for everyone.

Sincerely,

Franklin Garcia

Former DC US Representative (Shadow) and current candidate

Atentamente,

Franklin Garcia

Exrepresentante de D.C. (Shadow) y candidato actual.

[WardFive] Bringing this to the group’s attention…

Michael will be cleaning our air vents and dryer vents soon. He recently did an excellent job at a nearby property—very thorough, punctual, and professional. If you have allergies, notice extra dust, or haven’t cleaned your vents in over a year, it’s probably time. He quoted $400, but with 3–4 houses it’s $149 for a single AC unit home ($50 more for both vents & dryer cleaning) If interested, please send me your availability, home address, and phone number via email, or text me at 240-202-8145 and don't forget to mention Michael's name. I’ll add you to the list.

If you’d like to be added to the list, please share your availability and contact number.
