Over one hundred interpreters engaged in trainings and networking. OLA's Dr. Cecilia Castillo Ayometzi, presented on the progress of the Language Access law over the last decade. Additional experts discussed interpreter professionalization and led skill development trainings. It was an honor to celebrate the anniversary of the Language Access Law with a workshop strengthening the skills of interpreters whose dedication makes the enactment of this law possible.

The Mayor's Office on Latino Affairs was proud to host a Public Safety Forum featuring the Federal Trade Commission and Ayuda Project END for the DC Latino Community in Spanish.  Participants got specific information on how to fight scams against immigrant populations.

Hmmm...seems to me that mantle has been passed --- to YOU. All Hail, Queen Katie! :-)

Having said that, no one should put on for the race at any level unless you are comfortable being a little uncomfortable out there. :-)

For those of you who are still new to the Cheat ---   you don't likely know the river completely. But you will need to be able to understand what you are seeing and be ready to respond. There will be lots of folks on the river, so you won't be alone. And it would be good to have one or more race partners --- it's good for you to always have eyes on someone and have someone who always has eyes on you any time you are on the water, race day or not.

The precip forecasts are trending lower, so I'm not convinced that race day will show record levels. But it may be around  the levels of the first Cheat weekend this April. A quick round of the Hokey Pokey at the starting line should get you properly warmed up. :-)

Hope you all have a great race and a wonderful Festival weekend!

JOHN

Does everyone think we can all string up enough tarps to still all sit around a campfire in the evening?

Also, do we think that maybe we can all get together before the race and try to get a group picture?  I am sure it will be like herding cats, but I think it would be worth it to try.

Re: cheat_training_group Good day for the Gorge?

I plan to be coming down the gorge this afternoon, starting from GF MD around 6 PM. Can't wait to try out my new shredder tonight!!! (its in the basement now, all blown up, and looks oddly appropriate with the flood water all around it)
