[WardFive] DC Department of Energy and Environment needs your feedback

Greetings,

On behalf of the DC Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE), we invite you to participate in the 2019 DOEE Brand Awareness Survey. The agency is seeking feedback from the community in order to better communicate with District residents, business owners and stakeholders. Your responses will be strictly confidential and used only for internal analysis and decisions.

The survey will only take a few minutes of your time and your participation is very important to the agency. Your feedback will guide decision-makers as they work to improve key agency programs.

https://survey.zohopublic.com/zs/EJB31A

Your input and feedback are very important to the District of Columbia. Thank you for taking out time to participate.

Anthony Hales Jr.
Local and Regional Government Engagement Specialist

New Domain property added to your account

New Domain property added to your account

Dear Search Console user,

The Search Console team is always trying to improve our product, based on user feedback. One common complaint we heard is that users don't like having to create separate properties to cover http, https, www, m, and other variations of their site. We heard you, and we are proud to introduce a great new feature, called a Domain property, to consolidate your common site variations into a single property.

A Domain property includes URLs from all subdomains, paths, and protocols. For example, if you define your Domain property as "example.com", your property includes URLs from example.com, m.example.com, www.example.com, and any other subdomains of example.com, on both http and https.

The addition of this property will not affect or remove your existing properties. You can remove this property if you like. Domain properties are available only in new Search Console.

We've created the following Domain property for you, based on your existing properties (maximum 8 properties shown):

You'll find this property in your account today.

Re: cheat_training_group Downriver Saturday’s

Steve-O, thank you for drawing attention to all the trees (illegally) cut down along the bank of the river across from Violettes lock. One of my pet peeves is land owners abutting the river doing unauthorized activities like cutting trees, building stairways, obnoxious lighting etc.

Hey all,

I'd like to first say awesome job out there Wednesday. I think that everyone worked hard and it seemed like everyone was moving the whole time they were on the water which is my goal this year, just keep paddling. We focused on using our abs, legs, and torso to drive our boat forward and use our bigger muscle groups. This is a skill I will keep bringing up every session, so be ready!

This Saturday we are going to be meeting at 9 am at the sycamore island parking area off of Clara Barton Parkway (GPS coordinates are: 38.9581, - 77.1314). That is for regular Cheat, elite parking is in the top lot off MacArthur. Please be there ready to load boats and van at 9.

One thing I'd like to mention is having To do with rescues. I understand that everyone wants to help out with there is a situation, and I encourage that mostly, but when there are trained instructors and helpers in the area of a rescue please let them handle it. They have been trained, they have experience, and it's part of their job. If you would like to learn about river rescue please think about joining us for a swiftwater rescue the weekend of May 18.

This Saturday we will be focusing on using the edges of our boats to help us get to where we want to go. It is hard to move these big Long boats and you edges can really help you. During the warm up Saturday we will do an edge drill as well as talk about the stern draw.

Can't wait to see y'all Saturday morning!

Go fast, take chances,
Steve-O

News and updates from Pepco

Winter 2019

In This Issue:

  *  Avoid scams
  *  Improving service reliability
  *  Mylar balloon safety
  *  Helping our customers in need

Pepco reminds customers on tips to avoid scammers

Pepco has seen an increase in potential scammers calling Pepco customers and falsely claiming their electric or gas service will be disconnected unless payment is made. These impersonators instruct customers to buy a prepaid credit card and call back to a different phone number with the personal identification number (PIN) or other personal information.

[scam phone]

Pepco representatives will never call you to ask you for cash or request that you purchase a prepaid credit card to make a payment on your bill. If you have concerns about the status of your account, call Pepco's Customer Service line at (202) 833-7500.

Customers in D.C. experience improvements in service reliability

Pepco customers in the District of Columbia experienced the fastest restoration times ever, as well as some of the lowest number of electric outages, on average, in the company's history in 2018. During the past five years, the frequency of service interruptions for customers also have decreased 23 percent in the District of Columbia. During the same time, customers in the District were restored 44 minutes faster, on average.

Message on mylar balloon safety

Pepco wants to remind the community of safety concerns regarding mylar balloons. Foil coating found on shiny balloons can cause preventable power outages and possible injury. When these balloons meet power lines or electrical equipment, their metallic properties can cause a surge of electricity that disrupts power and damages equipment.

[balloons]

In fact, untethered balloons cause hundreds of unnecessary service interruptions for our customers each year

Pepco assists furloughed workers during Federal Government Shutdown

Pepco's Customer Advocate team was pleased to be able to provide energy assistance information to customers who received a meal at the pop-up kitchen and café opened by Celebrity Chef José Andrés, and his non-profit organization World Central Kitchen, to feed federal workers and their families during the government shutdown.

Pepco employee resource groups also volunteered their time to provide food to furloughed workers in need. Pepco employee resource groups volunteered their time as well – assisting in providing food to furloughed workers in need. Pepco also provided a $50,000 matching grant to the United Way of the National Capital Area's Emergency Assistance Fund, aiding United Way NCA in serving all of those affected at their regional network of Financial Empowerment Centers (FEC) for individual financial counseling and guidance.
