Good Morning Parents, Guardians, and Students of 2018,

My apologies for the late notice; December 1st snuck up on me. We have another fundraising night at Potbelly's in Brookland this coming Friday, December 1st, from 6 – 8pm (655 Michigan Ave NE). You don't need to do anything special aside from show up and eat between those hours. We get 25% of all proceeds. Last time we raised $162. I attached a flyer you can share with your friends, family, or colleagues in the event they want to help support.

Special thanks to Ms. Dawn Ellis for getting another one of these organized.

Lastly, don't forget next Tuesday, December 5th, @ 6pm is our rescheduled quarterly Senior Parent Night here at the school. We look forward to seeing you then.

Thank you,

Christopher Hoyt

[WardFive] Events coming up: Holiday 2017 edition

I hope you are all rested from a short holiday vacation.  But before we get into another celebration (and yes we continue to celebrate, and congratulate, Virginians on their November 7th election), I must pause and comment on the empowerment of women, by coming forward and denouncing their sexual predators everywhere.  Only a few days ago, on November 25th, we celebrated the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.  It is sad that as we get all these courageous women to confront their perpetrators, President Trump, who has no moral standing, after being accused by at least 16 women of sexual harassment, is now supporting child molester Roy Moore for a seat in the US Senate.  There is no room for Mr. Moore in the US Congress, or in any elected office.  He should withdraw his candidacy for the US Senate, and seek forgiveness and professional help.

On another note, when you have time, please take a moment and enjoy the November edition of the DCiReporter and the DC Statehood Today shows.  Both are fun and entertaining, produced in-house.  On the DCiReporter there is a good segment on DACA, and we revisit the historical Women’s March on Washington.  On the DC Statehood Today show, you’ll see the latest on our effort to get full democracy for all citizens of Washington DC, including an interview with former DC Mayor Vincent Gray.  Both Shows can be watched on DCTV or on-line on YouTube.

Below are some events in the community.  I hope you take time to celebrate the holidays with loved ones.  Like always, I hope to run into some of you at some of these events.

Thank you.

cheat_training_group White Elephant Party Dec 2nd

Hi Friends!

As many of you know, we (the Frangenberg family) host an annual White Elephant Party for our paddling community. It's a great time to see what each other's hair (or lack thereof) looks like, as well as to have some fun off the water. Please join us!

When: December 2nd, 7ish pm
Where: 14236 Secluded Ln.
North Potomac 20878
What: Bring a dish to share

White Elephant rules: This is a true White Elephant gift exchange. No buying allowed! Just find an old treasure  in your closet, wrap it up to attract hopeful souls, and come ready to have some fun! (One gift per adult).

Please RSVP with the dish you're bringing so I have a good idea of what to plan for.

We hope to see many of you!

Cheers!

Get geared up for Winter Paddling!
Brad Scott, sales rep from Effort Inc, will introduce you to winter paddling gear- Astral, IR, Shred Ready, etc and how to use it. And he'll have some Arch Rival Rear Zip Drysuits for anyone who wants to try them.
Then put on the river for a fun winter session with Dave Ritchie and the LAKS crew. Paddlers should have a solid roll and have run the gorge before. We will likely run the Mather Gorge or Little Falls, depending on level.
