Re: cheat_training_group Practice this Saturday and Next

I'll be coming today, but I'm having a tough time getting out of the city. Lots of roads blocked off. Hopefully I'll make it on time

Hi Fall Trainers!

I hope you all are enjoying this week at Horseshoe Wave. It is rare that this wave is in and I want to encourage you all to go out tonight if you can. I know it is tough to get to... but you can't beat the view! Bobby has told me that he really likes that you guys are facing your fears in what is turbulent but ultimately a safe spot.

For this Saturday 9/23, Tom would like to meet the group at 9 am at Fisherman's Eddy. We will do our last Potomac practice from 9-11 am.

On Saturday 9/30, Tom we would like to take the group up to run the Savage! More details to follow but please let me know if this is something you might be able to attend.

Thanks & have a great week!

[WardFive] Testify Mon, 9/25/17 to make Transportation Planning in DC more Proactive

Neighbors,

Councilmember McDuffie has introduced legislation that could have a great impact on alleviating major traffic issues throughout Ward 5 and the District. I am writing to pass along some information about the hearing for this legislation that has just been rescheduled by Councilmember Cheh’s committee for this coming Monday September 25th. We need to make sure that our neighborhoods are represented so if you are able, please come down and testify in person here at the Wilson building or via written testimony. We also ask that you please forward this and encourage your constituents to do so as well. This is for the Proper Planning for Future Growth Amendment Act of 2017. Details are below.

The bill is called the Proper Planning for Future Grown Amendment Act of 2017. Details are below. And a flyer for the hearing is attached or can be downloaded here: http://www.kenyanmcduffie.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Proper-Planning-Act-HEARING-1-Pager_FINAL.pdf

The Proper Planning for Future Growth Amendment Act of 2017
This legislation will require the D.C. Department of Transportation and the D.C. Office of Planning to work together on a biennial report analyzing each ward's current transportation infrastructure and future needs. While individual projects perform traffic studies as part of their analysis of development impacts and Small Area Plans look at the traffic patterns within a prescribed area or neighborhood, these approaches are often too narrow. This legislation will broaden the outlook of transportation studies, and make this process a regular occurrence rather than an ad hoc response to a given development.

Instructions for signing up to testify or submitting written testimony
Witnesses can testify in person on the day of the hearing Monday September 25th starting at 11am in room 412 of the John A Wilson building (1350 Pennsylvania Ave NW). Individuals will have 3 minutes to present and those people representing an organization will get 5 minutes to present. We request that they bring 8 copies of their testimony to share if possible. To get on the agenda, they may contact Aukima Benjamin before next Monday to confirm that they plan to testify in person (abenjamin@dccouncil.us or call 202-724-8062).

Those who wish to testify are requested to telephone the Committee on Transportation and the Environment, at (202) 724-8062, or email abenjamin@dccouncil.us, and provide their name, address, telephone number, organizational affiliation and title (if any).

Re: cheat_training_group Re: Fall Training at Horseshoe Wave

Thursday crew, regrets that I'm going to have to bow out of paddling today. My shoulder is still angrily resentful about what I "put it through" this past weekend at the Gauley. Ungrateful thing.

Gauley Trainers,
We will meet at Fisherman's Eddy each day this week at 5:30 then we will carry up to Horseshoe Wave. This spot is one of the best playspots on the Potomac so I look forward to practicing surfing, rolling, and ferrying there with you this week!

Hi Fall Trainers!

I hope you all had an amazing weekend... at Gauley Fest or otherwise. Steve-O told me that the whole group ran the Upper on Sunday. Congrats to all!

Bobby Miller is once again leading the weekday practices — our last week!  The Potomac has dropped enough so that Horseshoe Wave is in. The Virginia side is again the easiest way to access it. I know it can be difficult for some to get there but I think it will be worth.

Please meet Bobby at 5:30, ready for the river, at Great Falls, VA- in the parking lot immediately to the right upon entering the park. Bring play boats if you have them.

Ill email later in the week with Tom's plan for Saturday.  Let me know if you have questions!

Thanks, Ashley McEwan
