Jen,I agree with Todd about buying quality fabric. On the other hand, I have patched a dozen pinholes in my Kokatat dry suit whereas the thicker Gortex on my Sweet dry top has been indestructible. Jill, the "buy it for life" reviews and support are only for the gore-tex products. If it were gore-tex, Kokatat would be very, very likely to replace it for free. Much of it has to do with Gore footing the replacement bill if the fabric separates, not Kokatat. All this kokatat love has me scratching my head. I got a hydrus dry top less than a year ago and it's leaky (with no visible holes) so I get soaked and all the gaskets are disintegrating. Usually it takes a few years before the fabric gives out and I need to replace gaskets. Next dry suit I get will be a Kokatat made of Gore-Tex. Right now I have an IR. I only used it for one and a half winters and there were 4 holes in it. I am not impressed with the quality. IR did provide great customer service and fixed them right away. On the other hand, I would prefer to not have to deal with customer service and have a dry suit that does not get holes in it.
