Subject: 1st Federal Holiday JUNETEENTH Honor and Celebration Program / President Biden signed Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into Law / virtual zoom / in – person / Saturday, June 19th @ 3:00pm

Greetings my fellow Americans:

I pray all is well with you and your family. On Thursday, June 17, 2021, United States President Joseph R. Biden, signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into Law, officially establishing JUNE 19th "Juneteenth" (also known as Emancipation Day) as a Federal Holiday and giving national recognition to a day commemorating the Emancipation Proclamation. The United States House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly on Wednesday, after the United States Senate cleared the Bill on the day before on Tuesday, to make Juneteenth a Federal Holiday. Juneteenth observes the end of slavery and commemorates June 19th, 1865, when General Gordan Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and informed enslaved African Americans that the Civil War had ended, and they were free. This life-changing message came 2 years after United States President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.
