I usually stay out of these circle jerks these days, but just because you haven't heard of someone doesn't mean they haven't been active. Most folks didnt know Barack Obama prior to the two candidates ahead of him in the Illinois Senate Race got in trouble and were forced to drop out. Hell, most didn't know od thr Governor of Arkansas prior to him running for President the second time. Funny they both became POTUS. Hell, most didnt know Senator Harris when she was in California nor Stacy Abrams when she was a legislator in the State of Georgia, but they are household names. 

I'm not publicly promoting anyone in that race, but funny folks active in almost all the groups you named are how I knoe the person you never knew about. Hell, Ward 5's next Councilman was the school board rep (at that time helped by DFER, check the reports) and as someone active in DCPS schools over the last decade I only knew him because he ran for office.
