DPW Christmas and New Year's Service Schedule
Trash, recycling will not be collected.
Most parking enforcement will be suspended.
Dear Residents of the District:
The DC Department of Public Works (DPW) will observe Christmas on Tuesday, December 25, and New Year's on Tuesday, January 1. As such, sanitation services will be suspended on both days, resuming Wednesday, December 26 following Christmas Day, and Wednesday, January 2 following New Year's Day. Most parking enforcement will also be suspended on the holidays.
- Trash and recycling collections will "slide" to the next day for the remainder of both weeks. This applies to both once-a-week and twice-a-week collection neighborhoods.
- The Fort Totten and Benning Road transfer stations will be closed on Christmas and New Year's, reopening the following day.
- Leaf collections will not be made on either holiday.
There will be no parking enforcement on Christmas Day (December 25) or on New Year's Day (January 1), with one exception. There will be Streetcar parking enforcement on New Year's Eve (December 31) between the hours of 8 AM and 2 AM, and on New Year's Day (January 1) between the hours of 8 AM and 10 PM.
Other than these special holiday hours, normal enforcement citywide will be in place.
Have a safe and happy holiday season,
Kevin
