[WardFive] George H. W. Bush State Funeral

(Washington, D.C.) – On December 3, 2018, State Funeral protocols will be initiated due to the death of Former President George H. W. Bush. This Joint Transportation Plan, provides initial information regarding transportation routes and road closures for the State Funeral plans from December 3, 2018 to December 5, 2018. This plan provides the general outline for road closures and is subject to change. Security and transportation plans were developed in partnership with local, state and federal law enforcement and public safety agencies.

On Monday, December 3, 2018 the below route between Joint Base Andrews and the U.S. Capitol will begin closure at 3:15 p.m. and will remain closed until approximately 4:30 p.m. While this closure is in effect, expect extensive traffic delays and closures of side streets.

Motorcade Route from Joint Base Andrews to the U.S. Capitol

· The motorcade will depart Joint Base Andrews via the Maryland Gate

· Cross Allentown Road onto Forestville Road

· Left on Suitland Parkway

· Right onto Firth Sterling Avenue SE

· Merge onto I-295 / I-695 / I-395

· Exit Washington Avenue SW

· Left on Independence Avenue SW

· Right on 3rd Street SW

· Right on Constitution Avenue NW

· Right on Delaware Avenue NE

· Motorcade arrives at the U.S. Capitol

On Wednesday, December 5, 2018 the below route between the U.S. Capitol and the Washington National Cathedral will begin closure at 9:15 a.m. and will remain closed until approximately 11:00 a.m. While this closure is in effect, expect extensive traffic delays and closures of side streets.

Motorcade Route from the U.S. Capitol to the Washington National Cathedral

· Motorcade will depart the U.S. Capitol via Delaware Avenue NE

· Left on Constitution Avenue NW

· Right on Pennsylvania Avenue NW

· Right on 15th Street NW

· Left on Pennsylvania Avenue NW

· Continue on Pennsylvania Avenue NW

· Right on 22nd Street NW

· Left on Massachusetts Avenue NW

· Right on Wisconsin Avenue NW

· Right into the National Cathedral Complex

On Wednesday, December 5, 2018 the below route between the Washington National Cathedral and Joint Base Andrews will begin closure at 11:00 a.m. and will remain closed until approximately 1:30 p.m. While this closure is in effect, expect extensive traffic delays and closures of side streets.

· Motorcade will depart the National Cathedral via Wisconsin Avenue NW

· Left on Wisconsin Avenue NW

· Left on Massachusetts Avenue NW

· Right on Waterside Drive NW

· Merge onto Rock Creek Parkway NW

· Left on Virginia Avenue NW

· Left on Constitution Avenue NW

· Right on 17th Street NW

· Merge on Independence Avenue SW

· Right on Maine Avenue SW

· Merge onto I-395 / I-695 / I-295 South

· Exit Right onto Suitland Parkway

· Right on Forestville Road

· Cross Allentown Road

· Enter Joint Base Andrews via the Maryland Gate

All street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions.



The public should expect parking restrictions along the street and should be guided by the posted emergency no parking signage. All vehicles that are parked in violation of the emergency no parking signs will be ticketed and towed.
