Good Afternoon, hoping all is well with you and your family!
Schools closed ... makes sense!
and gatherings of 50 or more are banned --- Does not make sense!!!!!! Should be all gatherings!
"Bowser said she is considering lowering the threshold for prohibited gatherings to 10 in accordance with federal guidance"... according to Wash Post as of 3/20/20
CAN WE JUST TRY TO UNDERSTAND HOW EASILY A VIRUS SPREADS AND if there is a 6 degree of separation of everyone knowing each other or in this case, being contaminated by a virus, can you please imagine how far out of the 6 degree box we are with gatherings of 10 people, much less 49 person gatherings still being allowed at a time like this!!! Really, any gathering of people is too much!
Assuming .. If a virus usually needs a 1 to 3 week incubation period, it would make sense to do like Maryland and other Jurisdictions and at least close down all non-essential business to April 27th. Since we really only had limited amount of people tested, we really don't know how bad the actual situation is and from the latest numbers, the affected is somewhat exponentially increasing worldwide, and nationally the numbers are steadily increasing.. it would be best to be safe than sorry!! Let's not strive to be like Italy! I unnecessary death is one too many ... just imagine if it was your child!
In addition, it would make sense for DCPS to switch summer vacation for students to now and plan to move the balance of the spring semester to June to mid August. Then take a two week break and then start school in the fall... this will allow the virus to dissipate and for our kids to not miss their lessons.
So far, I am thankful that everyone I know seem to be healthy and right now, I can only say .... WOW to the limited governance approach of our city and country!!!
Maybe President Trump will decide to be a real "Commander in Chief" during "virus wartime" and do like the UK ... SHUT US DOWN!!!
UK ... Smart move... https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/uk-government-imposes-3-week-national-lockdown-enforced-police-contain-n1167141?cid=eml_nbn_20200323
