Re: [WardFive] A Sad Day in Ward 5 Politricks

Good Morning Eric,

I was wondering why the notice surfaced again but I thought it came out on the 20th from KPW and resurfaced again yesterday.  And I spoke to someone who I trust who said this Pastor also endorsed Delano.

Anyways, let's have a cookout this weekend again.  I could do with a really good Beef Hotdog!!  It was raining last weekend.  Same Place, Same time?? Or different Place.  Maybe we can have a collective cookout at the church after the upcoming forum.  Everyone candidate can chip in $200 and lets make this happen.

Fellow Neighbors,

I must say that this weekend we once again hit a low point in our ward.  It started out last week with the news that the pastor of a church in our ward decided to get behind a candidate for the vacant Ward 5 City Council Seat.  Instead of being respectful members of this list serve and the greater community looked for every reason under the sun to criticize and attack this man of the cloth and the candidate.  They attacked the way he spoke into the camera and the way he looked yet they at no point said anything about the content of his message which is most important.  Some even had the audacity to state that the pastor was handing out endorsements by saying that he had endorsed another candidate a few weeks earlier with no proof of such and this was followed up by supporters of another candidate asking who the pastor would be endorsing next.

This was capped off on this past Monday with the delayed release of an announcement for this same candidate about a community cook out he was hosting which was sent to the list serve last Tuesday.  It is simply shameful that this is the type of politricks that our ward has been reduced to and it is scary to think that many of the folks who are involved in these actions are the same so called leaders (I use this term very loosely at this point) of our ward.

Neighbors, I draft this message only to let you know that reasons such as these are exactly why we are in the situation we are in now.  Instead of measuring an individual based on their work history, track record of success and selected the best qualified person for the job we continue to make this a high school popularity contest in which we attack those who run against or support other candidates.  I ask that as we wind down in this campaign that we get away from these activities as they do nothing to help the candidates you are supporting and only show the types of lows that they are willing to stoop to, to get elected.  One can only question what they will do once in office.

In closing I will say that I chose very early on to support Drew Hubbard for this seat not only because I feel he has the best resume and background to step in from day one and do the job but also because I knew that he and the people he surrounds himself with wouldn't stoop to these levels to get him elected.  In a situation such as this it is not what you say but what you do and who you surround yourself with and to be honest it is shameful that folks who say that they have the best future interest of this ward in mind are surrounding their selves with the same folks who pushed and supported the folks who got us in this current situation.  This in no way will improve our community.
