Sequestration has reduced funds for the DC TAG - causing the Office of
the State Superintendent of Education to move up the deadline to apply
for these tuition grants to Tuesday, April 30 from May 31.
Please urge families of graduating seniors or current college students enrolled in state or local universities to complete their OneApp before close of business Tuesday. Here's the link:

The Higher Education Financial Services people are extremely helpful and
the process is relatively quick and painless. It does, however, require
filling out the federal FAFSA financial aid form
and getting 2012 DC tax return certified (or 2011 return and 2012
extension certified), as well as supplying student transcript and
current utility bill of other proof of residence. Both students and
parent or guardian must sign affirmation statement.
DC TAG awards DC students attending state universities up to $10,000 a
year to cover the difference between in- and out-of-state tuition. It
also awards $2,500 to students attending local private colleges or
HCBUs.
