Re: [WardFive] Re: [ward5] Fwd: Breaking News: Wal-Mart will nix three D.C. projects if living wage bill passes

Eric Jones,

Plain and simple -- you are on the Committee because you are bought and paid for -- a yes man to get the deal done as a "representative" from the community.  Let's be clear, if they are looking for people with qualifications, the best approach would be to put out a "RFP" type of request for people who are actually qualified -- not hand picked sellouts and Uncle Toms like you.

So you know, I was never ran out of NW -- don't know what you are referring to but check your sources again.  How about I refused to move there when my wife wanted to so that we could have a good school system and nicer everything.  Heck, she wanted us to move to Mclean, Va.

Dude -- I am not Jealous -- I am just truly disappointed in how a Black Man like yourself who is talented would sell out and be a yes man on Money.  Dubois was talking about Black Folks like you when he spoke of the talented 10th moving out of neighborhoods. In foreign countries, it is referred to as depletion of natural resource -- that is why offering immigration status to intelligent foreigners is always available -- not only to build a country but to deplete another society.

Which brings me to why I asked you to join up with me.  Obi Wan tried that with Anekin (darth vader) to keep him from going to the Dark Side. After watching you for a while, I wanted to bring you home and show you that you don't have to sell out to the "emperoror" / money and power.  Unlike what you may think, I know that you are a bright kid but like most young Black Men I know, you little you know is one of the most dangerous thing in a community -- and it is often too late and the damage is too much by the time you figure it out if you ever do as one sometimes never realizes that they are a slave to Money!!

So, please get that you don't have to teach me how to read a budget -- but because you are already more familiar with it and the process down at the Wilson Bldg, it makes sense to have you involved to make a difference quicker.  It amazes me that you are so __________ dumb to think that you are doing something so spectacular that no one else can do it -- especially a reader and a math person like myself.  Really dude -- the ignorance and audacity of feeling oneself and in this case, you feeling yourself!!  So you know, one of my older friends worked in Gandhi's office for 6 years helping write the Budget and I know few others as well.

As to doing research for me -- what am I missing?? If you are downtown anyways and doing the research anyways, is it wrong for me to ask that you share it to make things better for us to help our community?? I never asked you for anything for myself but only to help make things better for the community.  You refused and now I understand why -- you had already sold yourself to the Devil -- Money so you didn't want to make the community aware of what was occurring.  How often have you made the statement that if we were paying attention we would have known yet you know and don't share but only talk years later after the fact.

Look -- you might be here longer than me but rest assured, you will never have the respect that I get -- whether you like me or hate me, one thing for sure, I have some level of respect that you will never reach -- we can talk to folks in this community together -- in person not the Ghost Ones you say are calling you.

I don't know what I am missing -- making me wrong for trying to get you to team up to help the community and me speaking to Mendelson to share my success in education with all our underperforming kids throughout the city is such a wrong thing for me to do.  I am missing it dude -- you need to stop smoking that pipe that is connected to your rear end -- when inhaled, it seems like that type of gas is very disorienting!!  In other words, please stop smelling your own sh*t!!!

Grow up Boy -- I have made more mistakes than you have had successes and while I am still paying for those mistakes, it would be nice to see the next generation not making the same mistakes or parallel ones.

Like I said -- you made me wrong for trying to get you to use your abilities to help and you made me wrong for trying to help Mendelson manage this Education Issue our kids are faced with -- Yeah -- I am confused?  I think you should raise your head and look up and see who you are really playing with when you actually believe you are feeling yourself.

A fool for always trying to help my community -- I think I will continue to be a fool.

Well let me tell you why this lobbyist is on a committee,  because unlike you I'm not full of bovine feces. You would think that for as smart as you swear you are that one day you would get it. You blame everyone else for the problems you continue to have instead of just looking at your self. If is funny that you have so many problems with me but was begging me to do your research for you, to teach you how to read a budget and then to mentor me so that you could try to control my thought and use me to feed you information.

Then when I told you to take a walk all of sudden you want to try to attack me for being a lobbyists.  Well funny that this lobbyist was serving this community when you got ran out of NW and will still be serving this community when you are long gone.

You talk about me being on the Land Transformation Task Force not because you can hold a torch to the industry specific ir community based backgrounds of the members because your jealous that as usual ni one considered you.

You really need to go play with someone on your own level because this ain't a battle or war that you will ever win. You will simply continue to be made to look like the fool you are.

Well, If they would put REAL DEAL folks on the Committees rather than folks who are going to go along with what are in the Developers best interest, then that would be a good start.  I want to know what a Lobbyist is doing on a committee other than a "good boy" pat on the Ass and some return in $$$ from possible clients.

That would be a great _______________ start!!  But sucking up has it's $$$$$ benefits!! The day that a crime directly affects you and/or your wife and it clicks in your head to the part you have played in selling us out for a $1, I hope you spend your life having that memory.

Ask me the question why these crimes are happening -- because folks like you don't really want social/community approach to these big developers getting their developments approved and these big box stores taking over our community.  We should have people who are willing to structure the Developments and Deals to really better our Community.  We don't need the other 3 Walmarts -- We can deal with 3 if that means getting someone $160 before tax dollars a month into workers homes.

Would  it be a bad thing if there weren't so many Walmarts in D.C.?  I do think it is sort of a bait and switch to introduce this as soon as the company starts building.  Maybe Target will take over the buildings or a Bergdorf-Goodman.

Wal-Mart says it will pull out of three planned D.C. projects, two in Ward 7 and one in Ward 5, if the D.C. Council passes the living wage bill on its agenda for a final vote tomorrow.

Wal-Mart spokesman Steve Restivo confirmed Tuesday afternoon the company's intentions not to move ahead if the bill passes. The three spiked projects would be Capital Gateway and Skyland in Ward 7 and New York Avenue and Bladensburg Road NE in Ward 5. Construction will continue on its three stores already started.

The Washington Post posted an opinion piece from Alex Barron, regional general manager for Wal-Mart, outlining the company's position, shortly after Councilwoman Yvette Alexander, D-Ward 7, broke the newsin a Tweet at 2:54 p.m. shortly after meeting with Wal-Mart officials.

Alexander Chief of Staff Ed Fisher said officials from the national retailer were making the rounds of the Wilson Building on Tuesday visiting council members and stopped by Alexander's office. They also provided their intentions in writing, although Alexander's office said it could not provide a copy of that document.

Alexander is working on a strategy going into tomorrow's meeting, Fisher said.

"She may or may not introduce an amendment," Fisher said.

While Wal-Mart repeatedly told D.C. officials that the bill would have negative economic effects on the District, it always stopped short of saying that it would alter its development plans in the city if the bill went through.

Restivo, the Wal-Mart spokesman, told my colleague Mike Neibauer just last week that the company would wait until it became clear whether the bill would pass before discussing any concrete plans.

"It's sad that it had to come to this," said Barbara Lang, CEO of the D.C. Chamber of Commerce. "But this was the right thing for them to do. The council needs to see there are consequences for their actions."
