Something to share -- one of the sports topics yesterday on First Take touched on something about the Lakers that directly correlated with our community.  Stephen A. Smith called out his friends, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Majic Johnson, Kobe Bryant and a few other famous Lakers about failing to speak out about the Lakers Organization and it failures to address the issues facing the Lakers -- instead of blaming the problems on Dwight Howard.  Stephen A. Smith said that until these Former Laker Superstars and Kobe get the courage to directly address the Front Office Failures in Management, nothing will change.  He said "Can you imagine what would happen if these Superstars SPOKE up against the Management of Jerry Bust (Former Owner) Son, Jimmy Bust and how he is running the Lakers", "Can You Imagine what would happen"??  (Not a direct word for word quote but close enough).

 

In our community, we have lots of Whites who call themselves "Progressive" but fail to step forward to acknowledge the Racist/Prejudiced attitudes that our community face from Whites.  I have asked many times for Whites to step forward and identify such Prejudice/Racist/Racially Anchored attitudes and actions.  Why can't Whites See the Same things that Blacks see?  Over the Last 4 years -- When are Progressive Whites going to step forward and say -- Hell -- the automatic outrage leading to Huge support of Manomale, no protest on Little Ricky's and NOW, Brookland Finest is a perfect example of RACISM here in Brookland -- minus the few Blacks and Whites.  At What Point are folks going to just send Don Padou back to California with a sendoff that states -- Good Riddance.  When are folks going to understand that if folks wanted a drink or food -- why not support the existing Black Owned establishments in their own neighborhood?  When are Whites going to see that electing a White Man Tom Bridge as President of A Civic Organization Who THREATENED a member of the Community says to everyone who is Black that all who voted for him is OK with him threatening a community member. 

 

What does that say?  And then he leads a charge to un-protest the coming of a TAVERN Lic. when they were against Black Establishments -- and it is really probable that he and his Wife Tiffany Bridge, a Commissioner who Tweeted a Nasty Defamatory comment about a Community Member, are both behind a FOIA request against Commissioner Steptoe. 

 

I agree with Stephen A. Smith -- Can you imagine how progressive our community would be if we had Whites who would step forward and Identify the Racists, the Racism, the Racially Anchored issues we are faced with?

 

Why do we only have two White Men stepping forward to identify Racist issues -- Why is this attitude so RARE in Whites??  Do we really have to wait until Blacks and Whites have babies with each other for this attitude to change?  Do we have until 2040 when the Country is expected to be Majority "Brown" to have a chance of more fair treatment.

 

I really hope this attitude changes like today!!  It really is the Progressive Thing to do to call yourself Progressive.  Or, we can just Build a Two Statues on Horseback here in Brookland for Jerry and Eric as the Only White People to Identify Racial/Racist attitudes running deep throughout our Community!!  Let me know -- these Statues would be a great way for Office of Planning to spend our BRANDING BROOKLAND grant!!!!

 

By the way, if you see me at the Café sitting with a Woman who Looks like Me but 20 years older and a Older Balding White Man Next Week sometime, that would be me with my Sister and her WHITE HUSBAND of 45 YEARS!!  The other 2 Europeans and 4 African American Husbands to my other 7 of 8 sisters have been in the family for over 30 years!!! Like I said -- My family owns the term Progressive as it relates to being integrated with African Americans and Europeans --- Let me teach you how to embrace that aspect of Progressiveness!!  If you don't want to meet with just me, I can convene a Seminar Next week with all of us since they will be in town -- Let them tell you how to be Progressively Fair in the world of being HUMAN!!
