[WardFive] An Amazing Sight!

Good Day Everyone,

I wanted to share something that I saw a few days ago with everyone as I think that it is an awesome start to 2015.  I saw a picture on the front page of the Washington Post of Mr. Bowser's hand and his daughter, our New Mayor, Muriel Bowser's hand being raised high over the podium - a proud victory!  As a father of a young girl, I could only imagine how absolutely proud he is of his daughter as a person and her being elected the Mayor of our City -- I am sure as a Black Man, this must have seemed like a very long shot for his child.

Understanding some of the difficulties which many women face in their upward movement into leadership positions in a male dominated world, it has to be such an awesome feeling when a daughter breaks through and can reward her parents with such success -- A Thank You for all her parents and community's efforts; before she was born, their parents efforts and struggles, their own efforts and struggles after she was born to the values, determination and work effort which Muriel has actualized from all of them.

I know how proud I am of my almost 6yr old daughter's successes so I can only imagine how very proud Mr. and Mrs. Bowser is of their daughter -- I can't speak for the mother but as a father and the concerns that he must have had, I could only wish my daughter would follow in some of Muriel's footsteps. Regardless of who anyone voted for -- this is a proud day for her father, the female world as well as our Black Community!

I hope to live long enough like Mr. Bowser to see my own daughter achieve such heights or higher -- for sure our kids are growing up in a time where we have a Black President and now we have a Black Female Mayor -- what an amazing set of images to associate success and their own possibilities with!

Congratulations to both Muriel, her Parents and all those before who sacrificed to allow this to be a possibility!  Please forward onwards!
