DCFDW Combats "War on Women" with a Rally to Support Voter Engagement

 

"1,000 Women of 2012:  Voices United as Agents of Change"

 

WHO/WHAT:           In an effort to combat the raging "War on Women," the D.C.

Federation of Democratic Women (DCFDW) is partnering with numerous women's organizations, unions and churches to sponsor a "1,000 Women Across Washington Rally."  The Rally will focus special attention on the critical need for: 1) increased voter participation, particularly among young voters and the under-served; 2) a District-wide, united effort to counter the threat of voter suppression and intimidation at home and in other states; and 3) women to use their collective strength to prevent Congress from undermining and reversing long-fought women rights' legislation.  The Rally will feature prominent speakers who will address the importance of increased voter participation and civic engagement. 

 

WHEN:                      Saturday, April 21, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

 

 

WHERE:                   The historic Metropolitan A.M.E. Church 1518 M Street, NW.

(Four blocks for the Farragut North, Red Line Metro Station,

L Street Exit).  Limited parking available at the PMI Garage at 1615

M Street, NW.

 

BACKGROUND:     The Rally is the local effort of the National Federation of Democratic

Women's (NFDW) national thrust to engage thousands of women

across the Eastern Region of United States to amass their enormous power:  The 2012 election will be determined by the women.  Everyone is invited to participate as we come together and Rally to "empower 1,000 women across Washington."  If any organization would like to partner with DCFDW or if you need additional information, you are asked to send your logo and a brief description of your organization to lhjeferson@aol.com.
