Ms. Williams,
Thank you for letting me know about this, however, you have to report this to the police! This is a serious problem that you described. Yours and others in your building/area lives could be endangered. Though no time when criminal activity raises its ugly head in a neighborhood is a good time, but this time in the morning in a quiet community is especially dangerous!
Please call 911 and report this so MPD can start taking a look at these crimes in our area. Another neighbor had a ceramic flower pot stolen from his backyard. They took out the flowers and the dirt. Another neighbor also had her lawn furniture stolen while she was at work. We got to nip this in the bud, adn must report to MPD.

Good evening,
Please be aware of your surrounding day and night. Please pass!
Police present is highly encouraged in this area.
I wanted to piggy-back on the below, I'm at 77 Hawaii Ave, the Barac Co apartments.
There was a stranger that banged on my door yesterday between 430 and 5 AM, begging for money.
I thought it was someone I knew but after looking though the peep-hole, I did not know this person, who goes by the name of Carman, around 6'0 -6'2 light skin, short gray to silver hair, weight look to be around 225-275. I didn't open the door.
Also, that morning when I came out of my apartment to run errands, there was a young man who did not belong in the building, claiming he was to do some work in one of the apartments. I ask him to leave and waited until he came out making sure the door was closed shut.
I was telling a lady at the bus stop about what happen and she told me her patio furniture was stolen not too long ago. (she lives at the top of Hawaii and Clermont St)
While at the store, my neighbor texted me and indicated that there was a young man fiddling with my front door. I called her right away!
She described him and I told that was the guy I asked to leave the building! She met me at the apartment. When I open the door to the apartment building, it had been tampered with.
Didn't thinking about this until later, the maintenance man (while he was fixing the door), and I notice that within the hallway, the front cover IRON grill for the heat was missing.
I checked with my rental office, and they did not have a ticket for anyone to come out and take it.
My thoughts are he took it to sale. IRON is a hot fast money maker.
The young man is about 5'5-5'7, medium brown skin, and thin build with dark color dred locks.
In closing lets help keep the area safe, and KEEP the SCUM-BAGS OUT!
Thank you
Cynthia

Went out today about 12:30pm to do some shopping, returned home at 4:30pm to drop off shopping before returnng auto rental, and Surprise, the BBQ grill was no longer where I left it on the covered front porch! Had been sitting there since last August.
Well, I guess you live and learn. Though I live in a quiet community where everybody knows your name, that didn't protect me from this violation. The grill was black, small, top was in the shape of a football helmet with the "Budweiser" logo on the side.
I guess someone really needed it, so I blessed it.
Preparing dinner (hungry), so I'll call 911 and report it after I eat. Also saw where someone in Brookland had a bike stolen. They broke the chain that was attached to it. Sometime we think this is a small thing, don't need to bother the police about it. But if everyone reports these types of incidents, the police can track and see if a pattern develops, especially for the type of items stolen and from where.
