TO: Ward 5 Residents who attended 2006 DNC Convention
FROM: Hazel Bland Thomas, Ward 5 Democrats 3rd VP
SUBJ: Bus Transportation DNC Convention in Charlotte, NC
I'm writing you to let you know that arrangements are being made to have a
Ward 5 Megabus go to the Convention on Sunday, September 2 and returning on
Thursday, September. The cost will be $150 per person. Because I had your
name on an informal list of Ward 5 residents who attended the Democratic
National Convention in Denver, I just wanted you to know about the
availability of the Ward 5 bus to the convention. I'm also sending it to an
informal list of Ward 5 precinct workers. Ward 5 residents will have first
preference, however, tickets are available on a first come - first serve
basis. Please indicate your interest ASAP by calling Mary Lois Farmer Allen
at 669-9700. You can also purchase your ticket from her.
Please be aware that there will be virtually no /no credentials available
for non-delegates and the delegates are the prime responsibility of the DC
State Committee. It's my understanding that credentials will be needed to
ride the DNC router bus from Concord, NC (where the DC delegates will be
staying) to Charlotte. You should already have made hotel arrangements,
because lodging is the individual non-delegate's responsibility. Also,
unlike Denver, the convention center in Charlotte is relatively small, so it
may even be difficult to attend the workshops. Fortunately, the stadium to
be used for President Obama's acceptance speech on Wednesday holds 90,000
people, so there's more of a possibility of attending this event. We can
have fun like we did in Denver, even though the venue is quite different.
Please make your bus reservation TODAY and I look forward to seeing you in
Charlotte!!
