Howdy, Fellow Cheaters!
Bald eagles, bats and maybe even river otters? What an auspicious start to our season on the Cheat! From all I've heard, all the groups had a good day --- with any chaos well within expected and acceptable bounds. ;-)
I was particularly impressed with the First Timers on Saturday! We had our share of flips, a rodeo session or two, and a couple of swims. But all involved showed great composure when things went a little wrong --- a sign of a good paddler, in my view. In addition, the group did an excellent job of responding to these situations --- always alert, helping when able, and following directions when given. Frankly, that's not common on Day 1 when everyone is all nervous and I was pleasantly surprised. When I add in how well everyone did in picking their own lines when presented with read-and-run situations, I thought it was an OUTSTANDING day for the Cheat newbies...Congratulations!!
OK, so I probably just jinxed it and all hell will break loose next week. ;-)
Speaking of next week...I did get some good feedback, so you can get an updated PDF copy of the river guide on Dropbox. If you have problems with the link, let me know and I'll send you a copy directly. Notable changes include some clarification on Cue Ball and a small edit to the names of Sections 2 & 3. Your further comments and suggestions are always welcome!
Thanks for a great day!
JOHN
