That's why you live in Ward 4 and aren't part of the discussion. You do you, me and the folks who are mobilizing will continue. Its not by accident that we have folks with us. This includes parents, students and staff. You work your side we will work ours.
Have a wonderful holiday.
Brother McCoy
I have been communicating with brother Pittman about my concerns for a few months now. If my schedule permits I will attend the next meeting of the federation if not I will provide you and/or brother Pittman the information.
As always Brother Jones, you are the consummate hot air balloon that could serve as a warehouse to store empty barrels. Check this out "rookie":. Are you trying to tell me that all of the irrelevant garbage that you have noted outweighs the job that the school, managed by Jackson, is doing in educating its students? HELL NO!. Are you attempting to tell me that what Dunbar is doing from a PARENTS point of view should be pushed aside in favor of some parking issues, some political agendas, or teachers dislike for their administrator? GET A BRAIN!. Oh, and you see Russia, I mean Dunbar, from your front porch, right? Gee, I heard that somewhere before! BUT SO WHAT? And how many of your complainers are parents of Dunbar students? NOT ONE DAMN ONE!This man is doing a great job at that school, hands down! You have said nothing in your complaints that relates to ACADEMICS, which is what he is contracted to manage. And I do know that APHIA is very active at Dunbar with their tutoring and mentorship programs. They have an "in" that Brother Howard does not have, Jackson is an Alpha and there are a number of them on the teaching staff. The political bullshit that has killed DCPS over the years needs to be limited, if not totally eliminated, from any and all decision making unless it is filtered through the Chancellor. As I said previously, Dunbar is the "benchmark" for future 9th grade academies in DCPS and Jackson is leading the charge! All of the new programs that he has introduced is far beyond impressive. All the "he said - she said" garbage you pointed out (and that's all you pointed out) should be burned in the same empty barrel with your email. It's about academics my brother, not the "jack-legged" politicians and their political grandstanding, or those who suck up behind them! As a more than satisfied parent, he has not robbed my grandson of anything. My grandson is receiving all that we were initially promised, and far more than what we initially thought that Dunbar could provide. Share my email with your neighbor and your Councilman, and leave Dunbar alone. Remember, I'm a Grandparent of a Dunbar student, not a political kiss ass seeking votes or approval! And by the way, the Principal's son is a student at Dunbar also! Brothers need to JOIN ME, NOT YOU, THE PRINCIPAL NEEDS TO STAY! Sorry Brother Jones, a lot of hot air and puffery, but absolutely NO FACTS! JACKSON STAYS!YITB,Brother ToyeRick Toye & Associates, LLC

Your grandson is there and you aren't. Maybe you should check into the this a little more. It starts with rejecting cultural exchange programs and donations to the school because of his attitude. If further moves to disrespecting the alumni and trying to keep them out of decisions made at the school.
It isn't by accident that Brother Mark caught hell trying to work with them. It isn't by accident that brothers in this chapter who work with the Alumni organization have had similar issues. The Ward 5 Council on Education, Ward 5 Councilman Kenyon McDuffie and At-Large Councilwoman Anita Bonds who is my neighbor and like me overlooks the school from there home have all had complaints come before them.
Ask the Bates Civic Association which boarders the school to the north or the Hanover Civic Association which boarders it to the east and south about the complaints. Ask our ANC's about teachers being forced to park in the community instead of at the school and causing issues in the neighborhood and with groups like S.O.M.E.
With all due respect you have no idea about Principal Stephen Jackson and the problems he has created at Dunbar or even about the fact that he was removed before. Ask the teachers about how he disrespect them and talks down to them.
As for the Academy he isn't overseeing it, it is actually a Vice Principal (a Woman) who does that. As far as being a grandfather how do you feel to knowing that he has turned down exchange opportunities, grants, support and supplies for your grandchild only because he had an attitude. This is robbing your grandson of an opportunity.
I could give a damn about community meetings for community meetings sake but I do care when the children who live in my community and their parents are treated like crap by Principal Jackson. I don't have a kid in Dunbar so outside of my taxes I don't have a dog in this fight. I do however have neighbors who I care about who I see suffering from his negative actions. Its the children on my block who I see daily who complain about him. Its the young men who are scared to say something who I'm sticking up for.
Please know that there is a major movement to see him removed again and it started long before me and is only getting stronger. The Ward 5 list servers and the greaterthe community are talking and mobilizing. We want him gone and want a leader who will encourage our children to achieve.

Brother Jones, I strongly disagree with you regarding your assessment of the Principal at Dunbar! By the way, what is the Principal's name that you are referring to? What has the Principal done? What "bridges" has the Principal burned? If this is some "failure to meet with the community" bullshit, that is not and should never be that Principal's mission. My oldest grandson is a student at Dunbar in the 9th Academy and I have been very impressed with the management of that school, specifically the Academy. That academy serves as the benchmark for other 9th grade Academy's in the DCPS, and this information was provided to me by the Principal at Banneker. My daughter and I had a private meeting with the Principal and the staff earlier this school year and the impression that they made with us was beyond words. No brother, as a grandparent of a student at Dunbar, I hope that Dunbar's administration STAYS, provided that there is no evidence of immoral behavior or recent incompetence!YITB,Brother Rick ToyeRick Toye & Associates, LLC

Now is the time to act. I don't care who your Mayoral candidate is or who you support in the At-large race, we can all agree that our children deserve the best and anyone who stands in the way of providing opportunties to our children need to go. With that in mind I'm asking that you speak out about the problems at Dunbar High School. The principal at Dunbar has burned bridges time and time again across the city and is fastly turning people off from working with one of our city's flagship educational institutions. We can no longer sit by and watch our children continue to suffer due to his actions. Please join me in telling everyone who will listen that the Principal needs to go.
