Look out for those in need this winter. When the temperature or wind chill is 32°F or below, the District issues a Hypothermia Alert. For assistance during an Alert, call the Shelter Hotline at 1-800-535-7252 or 311.


(Washington, DC)-The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in locating a critical missing person identified as 71 year-old Laura Townsend.  She was last seen on Thursday, December 26, 2013, at approximately 1:00 pm in the 1800 block of Alabama Avenue, SE. 
 
Ms. Townsend is described as a black female, approximately 5' 7" in height, approximately 120 pounds, short grey dread locks, brown eyes, with a medium complexion. She was last seen wearing a black suede coat, black jogging pants, black gloves, black and white glasses, and a Redskin's winter hat.  She may be in need of medical attention. 
 
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Laura Townsend is asked to call the Metropolitan Police Department at 202-727-9099, Youth Investigations Division at 202-576-6768, or 911.
