DC STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION TO HOLD WORKING SESSION ON REVISIONS TO COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE RULES AND NEXT GENERATION SCIENCE STANDARDS
Washington, DC – The District of Columbia State Board of Education (DCSBOE) will hold a working session on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 4:30pm at 441 4th Street NW, Room 1114 for the purposes of discussing feedback received on revisions to compulsory attendance rules (DCMR 5-A21). The revisions are necessary so that the rules can be aligned with the "Attendance Accountability Amendment Act of 2013."
The State Board will also discuss public comments related to the State Board's consideration of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). The NGSS are new K-12 science standards that are seen as an important opportunity to improve not only science education but also student achievement.
While working sessions are open to the public, individuals and representatives of organizations are not permitted to speak or participate during the working session. However, individuals and representatives of organizations may submit written testimony for consideration by the Board. Written testimony may also be submitted by email at sboe@dc.gov.
