DC Latino Caucus Endorses Mayor Vincent Gray
 
(Washington, DC) – On Saturday March 1st, the DC Latino Caucus endorsed Mayor Vincent C. Gray. Mayor Gray won the endorsement with 85% of the vote. The DC Latino Caucus is the first Democratic organization to endorse a Mayoral candidate this election season.
 
The endorsement took place during the DC Latino Caucus Mayoral Forum. All Mayoral candidates and several hundred people were in attendance. The candidates answered questions important to the Latino community of Washington, DC.
 
The forum was moderated by Ray Suarez, host of Inside Story weeknights on Al Jazeera America and former long-time Chief National Correspondent for the PBS NewsHour, and Maria Rosa Lucchini, anchor of Noticias Univisión Washington.
 
Forum partners included: the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (DC Chapter), the Asian American & Pacific Islanders Caucus, the Washington Hispanic Newspaper, the DC Latino Leadership Council, the DC Hispanic Contractors Association, CapitalWirePR, the Latino GLBT History Project, Metrodiversity and DCiReporter. The forum was streamed live by NBC Washington.
 
The DC Latino Caucus encourages participation and involvement of Latinos in civic engagement and political activities in Washington. According to the 2010 census, Latinos represent 9.3 percent of the District population.
