Subject: Upcoming 4th Annual Anti-Violence Youth Summit, Friday, June 27th from 10AM - 4PM

To All Of My 5D Community, Partners & Stakeholders,

It’s now two weeks before our 4th Annual “Breaking the Silence on Youth Violence” Youth Summit which will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Friendship Collegiate Academy Public Charter School, conveniently located across the street from the Minnesota Ave. Metrorail Station.  Doors will open at 9:00am and the Summit will conclude at 4:00 pm.  This year’s Summit will engage youth on the consequences and harms of marijuana, encourage youth to make responsible decisions to avert criminal behavior and understand the consequences of violence. This event will be filled with dynamic speakers, entertainment, and invaluable resources for our youth.

Several collaborative partners, including my office, Project Safe Neighborhood Task Force, Columbia Heights Shaw/Family Support Collaborative, East of the River Family Strengthening Collaborative, Black Women for Positive Change, National Institute of Health, the Metropolitan Police Department, Street Wize Foundation, D.C. Prevention Center, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, will be coming together to make this event a success.  All youth ages 8 – 18, are invited to attend.  If you have any questions or interested in bringing a youth group to the summit, please contact, Monica Veney, 202-698-0145, Monica.Veney2@usdoj.gov or Lenney Lowe, 202-698-1452, Lenney.lowe@usdoj.govAt last year’s Summit, we were filled to capacity, so please RSVP early.  We hope that you will support this event for our youth and join us for an awesome Youth Summit!

As always, I thank you so very much for your time, attention and patience; I truly appreciate you ALL!!!

Kind regards,
