FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE--
DC's HARDEST Working Students Gathered, Recognized and Supported
Thursday, June 19, 2014-Roosevelt High 4PM
The 6th Annual Total Sunshine School Grade Rewards Ceremony is an event that has been called "outstanding!" by several DC State Board of Education Representatives, DC City Council Members, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes-Norton, US Department of Education Representatives, and many influential community leaders. This citywide event will honor and support DC's (Class of 2014) 64 Valedictorians and Salutatorians with technological tools for educational support-ALSO provide advice for the future.
The TS Rewards Ceremony has been well attended in past years with persons stated above, as well as popular television personalities and educators. United Black Fund President Barry LeNoir, Wal-mart Director of Community Affairs Nina Albert, and others that are proud of the top graduates will be present to lend their advice and congratulations. TSI will film the event for broadcast on their continuously award-winning charitable television show, as well.
The theme this year is "Be Bold!" taken from advice given last year by Fox5 News personality Mrs. Allison Seymour in her Keynote Address. This year, Johnnie Scott-Rice of the National Congress of Black Women (also an original school desegregation integrator) will provide special remarks for the top graduates.
Merilyn Holmes (Total Sunshine Inc. Executive Director) statement-- "I think Mrs. Rice will more than adequately be able to cover our theme in her message. Her life choices and accomplishments speak volumes. She's also an avid supporter of this event, and we are grateful...To celebrate and support these stellar students is important...I'm excited each year to meet them...we have invited many, and hope to have the auditorium filled with applause!"
