[WardFive] Events coming up -Congresswoman Norton in Ward 8/Mayor Bowser State of the District Address

I hope everyone is doing well.

We are pleased to see that President Obama is fulfilling his constitutional obligation to name a candidate to be considered for the Supreme Court vacancy.  Judge Merrick Garland was presented on March 16th.  I was disappointed to learn that this is the same Judge who wrote decision opposing D.C. voting rights.  I am looking forward to watching his hearings on the Senate floor, and hear why people who live in the capital of the free world can’t have the same rights people that live in other states have.

I want to let you know of a few key events coming up.  Take note of event tomorrow where I will join Congresswoman Norton for discussion on DC Statehood, and Mayor Bowser’s State of the District Address next week (see full details below).

Last week, Mayor Bowser was the main guest in Ward 5 where she discussed a number of topics.  You can watch the video of Mayor Bowser’s speech, where I, Councilmember McDuffie, Bonds, and Orange joined her.  For those that want information on the Democratic Delegate selection process for DC, you can watch DC Party Chair, Anita Bonds, discuss the plan in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDu742h3lLk .

Thank you, and I hope you can join me at some of these events.
