[WardFive] Re: David Grosso November Election -- Councilmembers

Hello Daniel, etal,

You are free to vote for whoever you like but I think you this push against McDuffie and Grosso is unfair. I think that both of them are doing their job...I am sure that they can always do better ... but that goes for everyone who is tasked with anything. Their beliefs may not be aligned with yours or even mine when it comes to McMillan, but it is up to us to put forth the argument for it.

As for traffic, what can they do??? People have cars and land (for the most part) will be developed....and with development, comes more residents...and yes, more vehicles!!! I sure don't need any more speed cameras or bike routes or wasted money on trolleys to nowhere!!! There is nothing that they can do about traffic...that's our decision whether to drive, to walk, to bike, to train or to stay home.

I have spoken to both Kenyan and David over the years .... they are both good people .... who might/do not share all of our opinions and/or have a different priority list ... especially when it comes to the overall priority list which politicians have for the city. So, vote for who you want to but these guys are both getting at least an A-, or maybe an A --- And I am not using a curve to grade them!!! They are both good dudes who have a different priority list than yours or even mine!

And just for the record, I would block your tweets too and I like you.....because I know you have a good heart and want to see a better world!! But be honest, your tweets and everything else goes overboard...not like anyone is protesting you or actively causing financial hardship to your business. Maybe then you would have a right to "rant"!! But you rant and become abusive just because people won't do what you want them to do....sounds like some TRUMP talk....!! You should really look at all that they are doing or trying to do before you label or try to recall them.

You should spend time putting out links like the one below so that you could recruit people to your/our side of this McMillan WATER SITE! Just imagine if we could utilize that space below to plant and utilize the water from the resovoir ..... and with a park above with theaters, fields, pools, water slides, etc.. Germantown has some amazing spaces for their communities.

You guys should continue suing the city for their lack of consistency in their building approach with no real attention to park or future green space at the most opportunistic of sites......McMillan!! Just think, the City is encouraging us to go "green" and be environmentally considerate, have active lifestyles, eat healthy, grow locally but chooses to put concrete buildings/structures one of the viable spaces for "Going Green"!!

Stay focus on that approach and stop harassing good folks like Kenyan and David! After a full day of work, they have a family and life as well. They can only do so much! And just so you know, I am not "friends" of theirs or hang out with them.....I speak to them when I see them, just like you do!! Maybe you should run for office!

Your friend,

Rob Ramson

Subject: David Grosso November Election -- Councilmembers

please post to Brookland Listserve and other listserves, I have been excommunicated.

I think there is one At-large-reserved for a Non-Democrat. I support G. Lee Aiken- Statehood Green please see her material, and share.

My experience with Grosso has been extremely disappointing. I first ran into him at Yes Gourmet, and I asked him about McMillan and the community opposition to the Gray/VMP plan, and saving the park.
He said "I am not sure, don't really know". I then sent him letters and material on saving the park and urban agriculture which he completely ignored.
Jerome Peloquin testified to Env. and Transportation Committee Chair Mary Cheh, on a DC Sustainable Agriculture Bill, a DC food coordinator. He presented the McMillan underground agriculture idea, and how massive the potential for fresh food is. Mrs. Cheh was excited and said "Where do I sign up", and never followed up in anyway.

Jerome continued his efforts by getting an appt. with Council-member Grosso. Jerome discussed with Grosso that there are two DC locations excellent for a demonstration of urban agriculture/aquaponics,
the then vacant Dupont Undergound, and McMillan. Council-member Grosso responded "McMillan, don't go there", kind of like a racketeer with "do ya self a fava, don't go there, wink, wink".

David Grosso  has never acted as our, the constituents, representative, and also he blocked my tweets to his acct.

Never responded to numerous requests from constituents to investigate the Fontaine PR firm, hired by Gray Deputy Mayor Jeff Miller to "neutralize opposition", the community, his constituents, who pay his salary. see MasryPat Rowan exposing Jeff Miller and Fontaine PR firm to Bowser  Feb 2104   http://youtu.be/uXkOgHV7Lhw

Vision McMillan Partner's, Trammel Crow is locally called TC Midlantic Development IV LLC they hired the top "Reagen era" govt. lobbyists for the McMillan Project. The Carmen Group, they are required to disclose their activities and fees to BEGA
DC Board of Ethics and Govt. Accountability

According to BEGA January 2014, which covers July 2013 to Dec. 2013
Dal Harpur of Carmen Group only had one reported activity,
ONE, just one ,  Sept. 3, 2013 meeting in person with David Grosso.
The Carmen Group was paid $10,000 per month, cumulative $100,000 for the year, which also included only one other thing, a $500 contribution to Mary Cheh. Over $100,000 paid the lobbyists for one meeting with Grosso, and really nothing else.

During the Joint City Council Roundtable Bowser/ McDuffie held to "surplus and dispose" of 25 acre public park land, The McMillan Site, THE BIGGEST LAND THEFT SINCE MANHATTAN, David Grosso was , I believe the only Council-member to chime in for a very short moment. He said "this development is fantastic, I just hope it can happen right away", "since the site is so large,it would be a good place for outdoor sculpture". I had known David Grosso was an art aficionado, knowledgeable, and expert, when  I read on his Facebook page that he named his dogs "Diego and Frida"!

Coming out of Eleanor Holmes Norton office, like McDuffie, I am not surprised he has a corporatist bias, and is playing along to get along. These are the officials that move the G"Growth Machine Agenda" ahead. Development in Brookland, McMillan, SW waterfront,  and of course Anacostia.

So what is he doing with the $1.65 Billion he now controls for construction and renovation of the school system? Even the brand new Brookland Middle School has almost a $million for "modernization", already!
Let's not forget the $100 Million he wants DC taxpayers to spend on a PR firm to push the co-option of Statehood by his council and mayor, that's a good one. Also his attempt with Anit aBonds to block ANC from FOIA, sheid our closest reps from us,, Very cool.

I was worried about that ...

So the opposition vote gets fractured between a Democrat, an Independent, a Republican, a Libertarian, and a Green Party candidate ... hooray.

TWO candidates who receive the most votes for at-large council will be elected this fall, not just one. The election info booklet that was delivered to our homes didn't make that clear.
In fact, there really isn't much choice on the D.C. ballot for local offices this fall. You gotta wonder why the nation's capital can't muster greater democracy among its residents.

I'm not especially politically active, but that is being changed by the fact that we have an alarming increase in violent crime in Brookland, serious traffic problems centered around Frankln and 13th, and the tidal wave of development that's coming to the Josephite, Howard, and other sites that all need to be addressed.

What has David Grosso, who actually lives in our neighborhood on 15th b/n Newton and Otis, done to help Brookland since the last election?

Zero.

Proactive messaging to our community?  Zero.  Walks through the community to ask about our views?  Zero.  Responses to constituents' concerns?  Zero.  Legislation introduced to address the issues we have?  Zero.  Interaction on this listserv?  Zero.

Will you reward a complete lack of concern for this neighborhood on Election Day by voting a proven non-doer back into office?  Or will you send a message to the Council that what members do or don't do actually matters to you?

Grosso has five opponents.  I would strongly urge those of you who are fed up with the "don't really care" attitude to vote for one of them.

The most politically viable is Democrat Robert White.  I didn't vote for him in the primary, but I certainly will now.

Anyone who votes for more of the same certainly forfeits the high ground in bitching about how our elected officials don't listen to us.
