[WardFive] Stop DeVos! Stop the Right's war on education >>

A new message from your friends at People For the American Way.

Shirley,

In her confirmation hearing, Secretary of Education nominee Betsy DeVos refused to commit to upholding Title IX guidance requiring schools to investigate instances of sexual harassment or violence. DeVos was ignorant about federal laws protecting students with disabilities, and has no experience with student loans.

These are just a few reasons why DeVos must be OPPOSED for Secretary of Education.

We need a secretary of education who's committed to protecting our students.

Tell the Senate: Don't confirm Betsy DeVos!>>

The DeVos family are multibillionaires who have given hundreds of millions of dollars to Republicans, Republican Super PACs, and far-right organizations like the extreme anti-gay Family Research Council. In fact, some of the very senators who will be voting on Betsy DeVos's confirmation as Sec. of Ed. have been recipients of her largesse!

She should not be allowed to BUY a seat on the president's cabinet.

DeVos has been given incredibly soft treatment by Senate Republicans who DENIED Democrats' request for an additional hearing (since there were strict and unreasonable limitations on the time senators were given to question her in her in first hearing).

Education is vitally important. We need real debate, not a rubber stamp.

Further, DeVos has been a leader in the Right's war on public education something particularly relevant this week as the enemies of public schools and the forces of school privatization celebrate "School Choice Week."

After you join PFAW and our allies in this fight by signing this petition to the Senate, we'll give you a link to our report: "Betsy DeVos Nomination a New High-Water Mark in Right Wing's Long War on Public Education."

Add your name now to STOP the confirmation of Betsy DeVos>>

THANKS for speaking out!
