Last time we went out with Steve-OH we put in at Sandy Beach. We paddled up then portaged just below Fish Ladder. Then we ferried across Fish Ladder then portaged up to O-Deck. From there it was relatively easy to ferry over to Fisherman's Eddy. That was at 3 feet, I think? It's do-able, but it's also still an intimidating experience for me. Ar my skill level, there's no way I'd try it alone. In no scenario do I prefer to find myself upside down in Bermuda Triangle after getting flipped ferrying Fish Ladder or flipped at O-Deck and having to swim. Lol.
Not sure how attaining from Anglers to Fisherman's Eddy would go in a playboat at the current river level.
If I go tonight, I'll probably just deal with the torture of 495. I'm kind of burnt out from my amazing first season though. It helps if you stay to the right after the 270 spur as you drive toward the bridge. Traffic seems to flow a little faster in those lanes...
It would be very easy to get back down to Anglers though...

Hey, is anyone else in the Thursday group interested in finding there way to our meet up site from Angler's? Yes, it'd be a bit of a trip but for those of us who live in Potomac or other far-flung Maryland locations it still might be preferable. It's my intent to do that, so if anyone's interested please reach out.Denise--On Mon, Sep 11, 2017 at 1:16 PM, liquid adventures <laks@calleva.org> wrote:Hi Fall Trainers!--I hope you had a great weekend, whether at the Gauley or on Little Falls with Steve-O! Let me know if you have any comments or questions about the way the trip ran.We have a special guest instructor this coming week. Some of you may know him as a former LAKS Yout, George Boss. Since graduating from LAKS (and later Clemson), George has been running and racing steep creeks in the south east. George is home in the DC area this summer and plans to move out to Friendsville later this fall to continue paddling and training. We caught him while he is in town to work with you on a couple of fun sessions this Fall! For this week, please meet George on the VA side of Great Falls (9200 Old Dominion Dr, McLean, VA 22102) at 5:30. When you enter the gate, make a sharp right and meet in the first parking area. We will put in at Fisherman's Eddy and take out at Rocky. We will not be holding a session this coming Saturday due to Gauley Fest but are adding one to Saturday 9/30.The logistics for this weekend at the Gauley will be largely the same as last. Tom is leaving from his house at 4 pm on Friday and has room in the van. We will be at Summersville Lake Resort, same sites. Please email me whether you plan to arrive Friday PM or Sat AM so I can book the camping. Tom, Steve-O, and Jack Hanson will be leading.Have a great week!Ashley McEwan
