Greetings:
I would like to personally invite you and your children to my major Youth In Action "4.20" Summit programming affair. All youth ages 8-18 are welcomed to a youth-led, adult-guided, positive alternative to celebrating what is known as 'National Smoke Day.' This FREE event will be filled with youth performances, skits, fashion shows, giveaways, food, raffles, a picture booth and so much more. Community service hours are being offered to those students who need them, and on-site testing is available.
More information can be found below and in the attached PDF. I am excited to experience what was once a thought/program idea for my center two months ago come alive and blossom into a city-wide event, the first of its kind.
If you do not have any children of your own or work directly with them please encourage your colleagues and those in your personal networks that do to attend. Just two blocks from Metro (Waterfont-SW or Navy Yard - Stadium side) you can still come by to show support, I would love to see your face :)
Unable to attend? PASS THE WORD.
Hope to see you there!
Together In Service,
c. Bennett
The DC Prevention Center for Wards 5 & 6 funded by the DOH in cooperation with Sasha Bruce Youthwork (DCPC Wards 5 & 6) will be hosting its 1st Annual Youth In Action "420" Summit at King Greenleaf Recreation Center on April 20th, 2012 from 4:20pm-7:30pm. Our Summit Theme: "SHATTER THE MYTHS" speaks to the DCPC Wards 5 & 6's commitment and dedication designed to strengthen community capacity, address needed community and system changes, reduce substance abuse prevention risk factors and achieve target outcomes for District children and adolescents. The DCPC is envisioned as a dynamic hub that engages, supports, and connects the many community elements that are needed for promoting healthy children, youth and families as well as a drug-free Wards 5 & 6.
