[WardFive] Re: [ward5] Power Outage

All I can tell yoy is that we darn sure don't need to spend one dime on Street Cars until all our infrastructure is done. But that is what I have been saying forever.  Maybe we can reduce some pay to executives and dividens to shareholders.  At some point, we need to start thinking about needa and not profits.  It was amazing that a VP of Pepco got almost $200,000 to use his connections in the District to stop the undergrounding of lines on 12th Street.  Who else is Pepco paying off and on the books, funding campaigns to keep the community from being "progressive"!  Maybe some of you will rember me from the meeting at the Church 5 years ago asking VO to be represent the community first.

And Eric, before you say anything, they all are doing the same - so your "Biddle" isn't any better and until we have a CM with Kahunas who will propose some real talk legislation, we will suffer.

Kenyan, you are up.  Be like Luke - close your eyes, think about your kids and everyone else's (not just their personal benefits) feel the force!  Don't listen to the Vaders around you - they serve the emperor$$$!  The force is with you and you know it - Start believing!

Listen, save the chicken neck, finger popping, and eye rolling for someone on your level or beneath you. As you stated, the infrastructure is old. Where we differ is on the idea of not paying for improvements through rate hikes. I understand in all your attitude you may have missed that as if offen the case when people put on shows vs engaging an issue.

See I don't have to retort and tell you where to go, you're already there. Now please share the toys with the other children in the play pin.

First I understand aging infrastructure in all of America and what is needed more than you could ever begin to guess. There are improvements needed to infrastructure all across this country. An interesting fact some may not hot know is some of DCs pipes that carry drinking water and sewer water are being held up with decaying wood. This is the same infrastructure put in place many years ago.
Now that is old and antiquated for you!!. For the record, I advocate for improving how water is delivered and removed every day. I am also for improving on how power reaches the consumer.

Now to your response, if you comprehend on at the basic reading level you would realized what I wrote. Your response may have been appropriate for other emails about PEPCO. Let me break it down for you. If you want to support PEPCO do so. If I decide I don't than that is my right. Of course you did not see that I wrote I would make a decision "after" looking further into the issue about line men Again your response was more than about my email-- just a rant. Oh you can kick folk around and can not take it Well just like you can suggest I am short sighted, I can suggest where you can go. My opinion is just as valuable as yours.
You are short sighted to jump to a conclusion about me and what I want without the facts. Grow up! Back to the clean up. Life is good.

Actually I don't want you to suggest or tell me where I can go. But I see where you are. Childish thing for childish people.

Just answered a call on my cell. Saw your email -- I am busy and a quick glance at your email makes me want to tell you where you can go. Short sighted?!. You don't know my opinion on anything but abouti just said the line men. I indicated I would look this into before action. I was not born yesterday and you are not the only logical or intelligent person on this listserv. Thank you very much. Your response was in reference to several emails that have been floating around. BTW power just came on. Life is good.

I'm sorry I must rail against this magical and ultra fuzzy thinking.

A. Most utilities wont hire more linemen, they will contract emergency repair work out. You see the trucks all over town. Comcast does the same as well.

B.  If you don't want to pay more how will they actually improve service.

C. It was a really bad storm.  What the heck do you all expect?  I don't understand the short sightedness.

D.  The move to put wires underground will help allay a lot of this, but we may all be dead before it's completed and it would cost Billions.

There are still pockets or neighborhoods without power in Ward 5. PEPECO predicted the power by midnight this am. That definitely did not happen. Folks on my power grid will have one more day without power in 100 degree heat. The new prediction for power restoration is  by midnight tomorrow. Fortunately I have had a cool place to stay. Not all of my neighbours have left their homes since Friday.  I will spend the holiday tossing out all in freezer and fridge. #*/+@
Media reports this has been one of the worst of many recent storms.  I heard that PEPCO has not increased the number of line men in many years to accommodate serving its customers whether for general service or an emergency. What are they doing with the money?  I will certainly look into this. If true I will be organizing my neighbors  to advocate against a rate increase for PEPCO.
