The 59th running of the CCA Downriver Race will start at Anglers on Saturday morning May 24: registration begins at 9 am, in the lower parking lot, with the racers' meeting at 10:30 and racers starting, in groups, at one minute intervals beginning at 11 am. Since the Mather Gorge section of the race will not be run, the total length of the race will be 5.5 miles. At this river level, the race from Anglers to Sycamore Island will be conducted largely on fast-moving flatwater. The two rapids, Yellow Falls/Callico and Stubblefield will be substantially washed out.
The lunch and award ceremony will be conducted on Sycamore Island, if it is open, or else on the grassy knoll next to the Sycamore Island parking lot on the Cabin John Parkway.
