Re: cheat_training_group Thanks!

Sandrine,

There's truth in those photos.

Go teach Youts in Alaska anything, kayaking being just one possibility.  You are a teacher.

The same point was made in a different way by Dave Kessmann when he was leading a discussion about teaching techniques in a SWR class up at his house in Friendsville.  We all see routinely what Dave saw that weekend.  You know how to have fun as a teacher, Sandine.  And, that makes learning happen.

Making the learning process fun inspires students.  The connection may not be obvious, but I'm sure that it's there.  Students get confident, for one thing.  Inside of a game, they figure things out, for another. Inspiring students is what teaching is all about.

So, just do it.  Or, really, just keep doing it, Sandine.  Not everyone can.

Dear Cheaters, Youts and Youts at heart,

Thank you so much for your kindness and all the warm wishes I received tonight.  I am extremely touched and I am leaving you, the LAKS family, with a heavy heart.  I will miss you very much.  Thanks also for the very nice gifts and cards. It is so very nice of you.

I am taking all that warmth to Alaska with me as well as a great AK survival kit built by my Youts: fishing line, smores, field glasses, a compass, a whisk, a pogo stick (yes, I did not know that either but apparently those can come handy in bear country), a mosquito net...etc.   [By the way, I just found out that "Pogo sticking" is hard!!  Fortunately, there was no one around 1 am to see me try and bounce around the parking lot and fail miserably... at least I hope so.] Anyway, bring it on Alaska!  I am ready!

I also would like to thank Randy and Chessa for hosting this very nice party again this year.  Thank you for making possible this nice gathering... on solid ground for a change.

I am grateful to have known all of you and paddled with you.  You really are a fun crowd and I hope we can stay in touch. I would like to think this is not "Goodbye" but "See ya".  So...

See you soon!

Keep on paddling and having fun on the water.

Cheers!

Sandrine
