Re: [WardFive] MEDIA ADVISORY: Mayor Bowser to Announce New Initiatives and Enhanced Commitment to Middle Schools

Good Evening,

That's awesome !! It would be nice to focus most of our funding towards our younger ages as well so that we don't lose any more of our kids brains lives!

This would probably include a good revisit to a in between grade (grade 5.5)  curriculum as many of our kids who are slated for middle school are below middle school level. At some point, we have to create that space in which we can separate kids who are lagging and bring them up to speed.

I personally think that we should focus most of our new money on the kids who test inadequately from middle school down if we want to reduce the drop out rate, encourage confidence in their own competency towards high school completion. It may even increase enrollment into community colleges and job readiness. We may even reduce long term crime and other supplemental expenses which come with supporting teens throughout high school, post high school years and into adulthood years.
