Hi Cheaters!
Thanks for an awesome first night! I loved seeing all of you on the water. All of us were struggling with something- whether it was getting on all your winter gear, getting used to a new long boat, that dang attainment at MD Chute, or maybe all of the above :)
You all did great things, too. I saw some epic elevator moves at Center Chute, brave ferries, and plenty of rolls! The greatest thing that you all did was to show up. My late Uncle Jamie McEwan wrote that, even in kayaking, the adage is true: 80% of success is showing up. Check it out here:
For those of you who were not able to make it last night, please drop me a note and let me know what happened. I know life can get in the way. But we do promise that if you make all (or most) of the 16 workouts you will see a marked improvement in your paddling. Even if it is just ferrying across at MD Chute.
We are meeting Saturday at 9 am at Sycamore parking area on Clara Barton parkway, just downstream from the turn off for Glen Echo. The level should be 4 feet-ish, the weather sunny and 50 degrees... Is this Cheat Training?! Still, please do dress for a swim.
Can wait to see you all then! Ashley
