Hi Cheaters,

The midway point is almost upon us!

Yesterday some of our staff went up to the Cheat to check out the road (the same or worse than ever) and remember the lines on our favorite rapids (awesome as always). We are excited to take you up there in two weeks! But there is work to be done in the meantime.

For tonight's workout, Ashley Nee will be leading a forward stroke clinic at the put-in and we will be filming your forward stroke. Be sure to come tonight! It is possible to make it up Maryland Chute at this level, give it 3 tries! If not head to center. Wet Bottom will be tough- give it 3 tries, too- then carry up! You can carry on the MD or VA side. No shame! This is a great level to work on surfing Rocky. It is also possible to attain the back channel- give that a try! There are lots of options above wet bottom today. We will meet in the eddy below Wet Bottom at 7:30 to paddle hard together back to Anglers.

For Saturday, the river level will be higher which will make for a fun run. We will meet as usual at Sycamore at 9 am. After heading down to below Rocky (likely through the back channel), we will do a mass start. The goal is to paddle without stopping all the way to Sycamore. We call it a race but it is really a way to challenge yourself and paddle hard to get ready for the 11 miles of the Cheat Canyon. The real Potomac Downriver Race is May 12th. LAKS has posted some great paddling opportunities for after Cheat ends-
Oregon Semi-stouts paddle the best whitewater in Oregon with Ashley Nee and eNRG kayaking!
Upper Yough Training paddle 2x a week with the goal of running the Miracle Mile
Upper Yough Lite for those who want to train and run rivers but aren't quite ready for the Upper.

See you tonight!
