Hello Everyone,
Just a quick note to share with you that I was pleased with the direction with the Small Business Bill B19-0781 on 7/12/12 that Vincent Orange is pushing. Knowing that we don't always agree on things, his approach to this bill is the type of approach that he and other CM's should be taking to all Bills. Imagine if the issues raised in all the Testimony that will benefit our City is addressed, this will be one of the best Bills in a while.
So you know, even though I am a Vincent Orange Supporter, that doesn't mean that I am not realistic that there are questions regarding Pepco and other relationships as well as other issues that we don't agree on. Like I said before, I believe that the first Public Voice that I had was a very anti Vincent one regarding his approach towards the Undergrounding of Wires on 12th Street. For no other reason than believing in possibility and what I really feel he is capable of, I am hoping that he will be absolutely different now after having to really fight to represent the people of Washington DC. I am hoping that the same attitude that he had towards this Bill and the conviction that I saw some glimpses of during testimony will engulf him and he will continue on this path.
Bottom Line, if this Bill is truly refined, will make a huge difference to the residents, workers, companies - DC PERIOD!! The problem is that I wonder why this hasn't been done by 13 people for so many years. Imagine if there are this many changes that needs to be made and people have been complaining about the same issues for years, why haven't this been done before by the 13 CM's, especially the previous Chairs of Small Business. That had to be some corrupt Blocking that allowed those who have received contracts before.
Also, let's congratulate our new Ward 5 CM Mcduffie on being present at the hearings. Hope that this continue and not end up missing like so many others or talking on the phone. Anyways, he did a good job with the Pepco questioning. There are some deeper questions that needs to be asked that might get to the core of the issues that we have experienced lately during the Storm. I am sure that this is not just because of Trees Falling. I think the right probing type questions need to be asked and maybe other things will come to light. Anyways, just as I am hard on him, I see/hear when he is headed in the right direction.
I suggest people look at both of these hearings and get some ideas of how to
