Re: cheat_training_group Raft LY advice

Hey John,

As a former raft guide on the New River, 9 years old was our minimum age for going down the Gorge.  4 was our minimum age for the Upper New.  I would say the difficulty of the LY is somewhere in the middle of the two stretches of the New, probably much closer to the Upper than the Gorge.   

How competent of a raft guide are you?  Where did you professionally guide?

I good raft guide on the LY will be able to get a raft down the river full of clients without the clients having to take a single paddle stroke. 

All this being said, as a former raft guide, I would have no problem with taking a 7 and 10 year down the LY.  Make sure there is a competent raft guide driving the boat and they will be fine.
