[WardFive] Join us Tuesday: DCPS high school investments and children's museum at Ft. Totten

Hello Ward 5! We hope that you will join us for our May monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 19th, from 6:30-8:30pm at the Lamond- Riggs Library (5401 South Dakota Ave NE). We have an awesome agenda this month!

Our agenda this month includes:

EXPLORE! Children's Museum of Washington, DC: this interactive children's museum is in the process of locating in the Ft. Totten area and wants to not only introduce themselves to us but share any updates regarding the progress

- Discussion about DCPS' High School investments: we will be joined by DC Public Schools' Chief of Schools, John Davis, to discuss the investments that DCPS had committed to making to ensure equitable programming and high-quality neighborhood high school options in every part of the district. Mr. Davis will share with us key updates about our comprehensive high schools with an emphasis on new investments being made, new programming, and what he's heard from parents and students across the city around what  they are looking for. (Mr. Davis' office supports and leads school principals primarily through the work of Instructional Superintendents.)

This year we haven't spent a lot of time this school year discussing high schools. To make this conversation a productive one, and to better frame the discussion, we ask that you share with us any questions that you have surrounding this topic (around DCPS high schools, their programs, and/or their existing investments).  Please email any of this questions, or thoughts, to us prior to the meeting on Tuesday, this will allow us to have the most meaningful discussion possible regarding this topic. Even if you are not able to attend on Tuesday we would love to hear from you! Send your questions our way: ward5coe@gmail.com

We hope to see you on Tuesday!!
