The 5th Annual Making D.C. History Awards was a tremendous success! In all, the awards raised over $100,000—our most successful to date—and we are grateful for the generous support of our honorees, attendees, sponsors, and donors. Thank you for supporting our mission to collect, preserve, and share the history of our nation's capital.

Presented at the National Building Museum

Saturday, November 19, 2016 - Sunday, February 12, 2017
This poetic visual essay explores the changing streetscapes of downtown Washington in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s through the urban street photography of Bill Barrett, Chris Earnshaw, and Joseph Mills. The works both reflect and confront each other, providing a sense of the physical and social upheavals experienced by the city in those decades.

DISTRICT II is organized by the Historical Society of Washington, D.C. in collaboration with the
National Building MuseumLearn More
