So the plan tomorrow is going to be… drum roll… Kitzmiller!!!
Getting there: We are going to be meeting at Gaithersburg park and ride, Montgomery Village Ave, Gaithersburg, MD 20878 at 7am. If you are going to be meeting at exit 42 off 70 then meet there at 7:30am. Once you all figure out your car pool situation then drive to Kitzmiller, Md. There will not be room in the van to ride up in so please plan to carpool amongst other paddlers. We will meet at the old gas station right near the bridge. Plan to be there at 10:30. We will condense even more and head to the put in, which has very little parking. PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL OF THE TOWN. Don't clog the road ways and park on the grass. We are a big group and we don't want to ruin access for future paddlers.
The river: I included the link to the American Whitewater page of this section. Please be aware that it is 15 miles of pretty continuous whitewater. there are 2 class lVs. There are also some holes that are fun to surf if you're into that thing, if you're not then you can avoid them. We will probably scout one rapid named Rattlesnake.
Temp: The river is not a warm river, I would say its cold like the lower youth, and the weather isn't supposed to get above 55 so please dress accordingly. I am wearing a dry suit, pogies (if I can find them), and probably 2 layers under my dry suit ( I like to be toasty). Bring water and snacks for a long day on the river.
The boat: I would suggest bringing a creek boat or whatever you are most comfortable in. I would not suggest a play boat.
If plans change I will email everyone at 7 to let you know, but I do not think that we will be making any changes to this itinerary.
We also have a Creeking Clinic on Sunday with Tom McEwan and Johnny Brooks if anyone wants to make a full weekend out of it. I would put my money on Lower Big Sandy, but I cannot guarantee that.
Can't wait to see you all up there!

Hi Cheaters,
It's raining, get excited! Just a reminder that we are meeting Saturday at 7 am at the Gaithersburg Park and Ride. If you haven't been there before, please read these directions because there are two P&R lots in Gaithersburg.
From NORTHBOUND I-270: Use Exit 10 (MD-117 West, Clopper Road). DO NOT GO TO EXIT 11. At the end of the ramp continue west on Clopper Road to the traffic light at MD-124/Quince Orchard Road. Turn right (east) on MD-124/Quince Orchard Road. After passing under the railroad bridge, turn right at the traffic light into the Park & Ride lot. From SOUTHBOUND I-270: Exit 11 (MD-124, Gaithersburg). The exit ramp widens to 3 lanes - the CENTER LANE takes you across MD-124 at the traffic light into the Park & Ride lot.or, for those of you out west, Steve-O, Johnny and Bobby are meeting at 7 am at the Meyersville Park and Ride.
From here we will arrange carpools and head out … west. We want to be able to make the final decision about what we will run Saturday morning, at the latest. If you are planning to drive yourself out without stopping at the lot, be sure to check this email and have someone's phone number that will be out there. It is looking like the level will be good for Kitzmiller section of the Potomac (river info) but let's wait and see. This is a really fun run and it's great to catch it while it's in! We won't run the Cheat if it's much above 5 ft.
For those of you going creeking on Sunday with Tom and Johnny, we are looking at the Lower Big Sandy but won't decide for sure until Sunday morning. We will be camping at Teeters. You should remember to bring your creek boat, camping gear, and cold weather gear. There is still space in the Creeking Clinic! You can sign up here- https://calleva.org/liquid-adventures-kayak/advanced/trips/wv-creekin/
Have a great weekend!--
