Glad the bear had manners enough to wait till the race was over. It's a miracle you're ok and a wonder that Randy didn't run into you and the bear. Is your kayak ok?

I had a fantastic Cheat river experience this year and am extremely grateful to Tom, his staff and all the participants. What a great group of people. Instead of camping I decided to leave Albright Friday night. I was traveling East on route 50 in West Virginia. I was on a deserted stretch of the road when in an instant a 400 pound black bear instantly appeared a few feet in front of my car. A horrendous crash occurred destroying the front of my car. Fortunately I emerged without a scratch. The air bags deployed and the car was not drivable. There was no cell phone service in that location but Randy and his wife were following me and were able to get me situated. We were able to roll the car off the road. As it was late we stayed overnight nearby planning to take care of the car Saturday morning. I called the emergency towing service and asked them to meet us at the car. We kept driving along route 50 and could not find it. Finally we called the Mount Storm police and found out that they had already had it towed already. After a lot of confusion we finally were able to locate the vehicle and have it taken to Winchester, the nearest Volvo dealer. The good news is that now I have a vehicle that can drive to the Cheat take out.--
