To Become a Mentor they must:
* Be 21 years of age or older (older preferred)
* Be a resident of DMV and citizen of the United States, or legal resident
* Reside within a reasonable distance of the Cadet
* Be same gender as the Cadet
And must be willing to:
* Agree to a criminal background check
* Attend one Mentor Day to be held at the Capital Guardian Youth ChalleNGe Academy (CGYCA) Note: We will be conducting this required training at the Armory on Thursday September 18
* Make weekly contacts by phone, mail or email with their Cadet after they have been trained and matched while Cadet is at the academy
* Make weekly contacts by phone, mail, email, social media, text, or face-to-face with their Cadet after they complete the Residential portion of the program
* Mail or e-mail (may also be completed online) a monthly report to CGYCA on the progress of their Cadet
