Good morning all:
The DC Department of Human Resources (DCHR) has announced its second of five “Direct Connect” hiring events aimed at connecting District agencies with District residents. This event is FREE, but registration is required for jobseekers.
· Who: All District residents are invited to attend. The event is not restricted to District residents. (Only 1,000 registered attendees will be admitted)

· What: “Direct Connect” will offer District residents the opportunity to meet directly with District agencies and private-sector companies seeking talented candidates in various disciplines ranging from recreation to information technology.

· Where: Barry Farm Recreation Center, 1230 Sumner Road SE, Washington, DC 20020
·
· When: Thursday, February 16, 2017; 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
·

On-the-spot job offers will be issued from the following agencies:
· Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE)
· Department of Human Services (DHS)
· Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR).
Other participating agencies include:
· University of the District of Columbia (UDC)
· District Department of Transportation (DDOT)
· Department of Employment Services (DOES)
· Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED)
· Office of Planning (OP)
· Office of the Tenant Advocate (OTA)
· Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB)
· Department of Energy and Environment (DOEE)
· Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS)
· Department of For-Hire Vehicles (DFHV)

Contingent job offers for all positions at these agencies will be made within 48 hours after the event. Opportunities from private-sector companies may also be available.
Applicants will have the option of claiming additional preference if they are:
1. A District resident,
· Anyone claiming District residency preference at the time of application should bring a government-issued form of identification and proof of voter registration.
2. A veteran (and/or has disabilities from military service),
· Applicants claiming veteran’s preference should bring a copy of their DD-214.
3. Is 18 to 21 years of age and is currently or was a Child and Family Services (CFSA) foster care recipient within the last five years.
· Applicants claiming a foster care preference will need a letter or other documentation from CFSA or the Family Court of D.C. Superior Court showing that they are currently in foster care or showing the date they left court supervision.
