Re: [WardFive] Re: [ward5] DIRTY POLITICS

Former Speaker of the US House of Representitives reputedly said, "... all politics is local."   Left unsaid is the fact that all politics is dirty!  It is the unfortunate fact that in America and certainly here in DC, the politician has fouled his nest.  National opinion polls place Congressmen actually less popular than Bankers.  Here in DC we have seen the worst of the lot .. politics, dirty?  Seriously dude?

Let me say that I support CM Brown in this election!  My principal reason is his indefatigable work on behalf of the working man and woman here in the district.   He has an excellent staff typified by Kilan Boardman Schroyer, his legislative director.  On several occasions I have had the opportunity to work with his office and unlike others whom I will not mention, appointments were kept, as well as commitments.  We all need to remember that it was CM Brown who sponsored the New First Source legislation that will hold developers and contractors to hiring citizens of DC first, when staffing DC supported construction.  This has been a point of conflict between me and Lobbyist Eric Jones whom I believe represents many of the most egregious offenders of both the letter and spirit of this just law.   Furthermore, I have attended and given testimony on several occasions before Brown's committees.   He is always present (not on the cell phone) he engages in the dialog ... and he has a sense of humor.

I have no reason to actively oppose Mr. Russo.  He attends community meeting but rarely speaks or submits opinions.   He does not venture forth on the list serve.  He is an advocate for charter schools and although interesting from a academic perspective, according to a Mathematica Policy Research Institute study, "... charter school students generally didn’t do better academically than other students.:  I suspect someone is making a lot of money in that game.  It is hard to know who ... I certainly do not see the "why," of charter schools, especially if there is little difference in the pedagogical outcome.  If I am mistaken I'm certain someone will call me out.

Rob is talking about the "slip-n'-slide" game ... and development in general.  I have no knowledge of a conspiracy organized or otherwise, however there are a number of intriguing coincidences and questionable ethical practices here.  First there is the fact that the both planning and zonning report through the Economic Development Dep't tends to unbalance the playing field in the favor of maximum density development.   Then there is the myth of Transit Oriented Development where the proponents want to deny the use of the automobile as a fact of urban life.   I could go on and I intend to do so but not in this email.

I plan to use historic experience with development like Bouzouto's RI project, EYA's St. Paul's project, and ABDO/Bouzoto's CUA projects, along with the pending McMillan fiasco as examples... stay tuned

Hello Nolan,

I would assume the Worst on that.  There is no explanation on that - not even the one Debbie Gave as he stood to profit from this. He was definitely out of Order ---- But that pales in comparison to some of the other things occurring downtown and the "VP" positions held, the "consultation" fees being made, the "campaign/constituent service" support being accepted. The irony in all of this is that there should be questions about lots of other things that other CM's do that no one likes to discuss.  Until that discussion occurs, Michael Brown should not be under the Microscope on this.  Let's have that discussion about all of the CM's First.

Anyways, ---  Just as His "iGaming" issue was/is an issue that we have to deal with regarding the entire Council and how it operates.  However here is a bigger question to us here in Ward 5 - how do we know what "iGaming" is going on with the Collaberating that Nolan and the rest of the "Progressive" movement and Kenyan have cooking - or is this just a private discussion.  You have definitely got his ears - at least you have three people, and a possible 4th in his office pulling on his "leash"!!  What's up with the slip-n-slide game here??  We are smelling it - no difference in "politics" here!!  Ward 5 is bigger than Rhode Island Ave!!!

Maybe someone in your group should have addressed the issue Raised by Stephanie R ----- "Coincidentally, it was in one session of this ULI Leadership Class that a visiting developer announced, "that before they move in to redevelop an urban area, they send in the gays to civilize the area first."  Perhaps, this explains why there seems to be a proliferation of disruptive, antagonists moving into our community trying to take over and on local websites causing consternation and civil discord.

The first time I heard from Jeff, he sent me an email asking me to send him all of the work PCDC had done on Rhode Island Ave so he could apply for funding.

1.  Who asked the question??
2.  When was the question asked - date?

You see, Jeff was just doing him (nothing at all wrong with that) when he researched PCDC - the organization mentioned on the listserv. He really didn't find what he deemed as "substanstive" or itemized IR 990 reporting that is often filed.  You see, Jeff was just doing his "due diligence" on the Why (that was asked) and reporting Back so he wasn't maligning as he was just saying that it has been and averge type of CDC he experienced over his 30 years as a planner; thus giving Stephanie R a chance to elaborate and clarify a little more about PCDC.

Anyways, what was highlighted was a Statement made by a Developer about a tactic that is utilized to "clear the way.  Which brings to the forefront something I and others have wondered about Greg Roberts who has moved around so much and participated in so much in so many different states and has "landed"/planted his flag here!!  I believe I asked this a long time ago but never got an answer.

Trust and Believe that there is a reason that this question  filled statement went by untouched. Stephanie R and I definitely are not "bedfellows" but why are those who are so "active" in Ward 5 suddenly silent on this?  Now, a statement like this going by untouched lends to its Credibility!!  You see, if you answer, your words give you away because the web just gets more intricate, and if you don't answer, the silence defaults to guilt.

By the way, as long as Stephanie A and Corey are in Office, it would be a tough set of pills for this community to sell and the other part to swallow if PCDC doesn't get the Controlling Contracts for Rhode Island Ave!! I hope they don't think that having Mrs. Mobley on staff is the neutralizer.

All this is like COLUMBUS DISCOVERING THE NEW WORLD ALL OVER; AGAIN!!

Since we're talking about CM Brown, I've got a question about his legislative record:

What was the deal with slipping iGaming into the budget at the last minute? I have never gotten a plausible answer as to why that was put in at the last minute, without any public notice, discussion or even any hint it might be coming. I find that episode very troubling. Does anyone have a reasonable explanation? (besides assuming the worst)

Either way, should be a fun race to watch this fall!

Thanks Aaron; as you know, we will not always agree on political issues.  You are right regarding leadership with a "full heart" and that is what CM Brown's current cadre of individuals possess.

I, for one, will not be on the front lines for anyone unless I can see honestly where their intent for the people exist.
Remember, my choice in leadership for Ward 5 was John Salatti.  When John's team realized that it was an uphill battle for him to win, because of race, we bowed out. And so we wait to see what our newly elected CM of Ward will produce.  CM McDuffie has only co sponsors bills; that is not enough from someone who stated that the were prepared to hit the ground running.

Recently I  sent out CM Brown's salute honoring the workers, past and present accompanied by a list of his legislative accomplishments.  For me, I see in CM Brown the strength of integrity of a young Afro American man who is willing to buck the status quo when it comes to addressing the needs of all citizens of the district, not a few.

I for one, being on the battlefield for truth aligned with justice for all people realize that a leader is only as good as his team.

Dorothy Brizell and her accusations of associating our camp with Mr. Bishop is far fetched unless he was working under someone within the organization but we will see.

Thanks Aaron for the well wishes on getting the Ward to support the strongest most viable At large candidate running.  I am looking for you to be next to me on the trail.

Debbie,

Good day. The Leadership of all the individual who are running for the At-Large seat are having problems with getting their massage out/platform that they are running on. They have not shown any leadership on what they will bring to the council for an more friendly environment for all/"OneCity" theme. Mr. Grosso have no true leadership because it shows with his staffing around him that they are only able to reach out to one group of folks, and that he has been out running for office back in February(No platform)..sad. the other individual have no true sense of direction on leading them to a platform. We all know that our government needs changes. We do not need the candidates to remind us of that.

I will say that yes, Mr.Brown has some problems that he needs to address but is having problems doing so in a timely matter. So that show me that one he is not ready to address them or his staffing has not ideal in which to lead him into knowing that the residents of the District of Columbia truly want true leadership from someone with a meaning full heart!? Truly the only CM that has that knowledge is "Mayor for Life" Barry. Will there be someone in the future to be able to do that yes. The question is when. To show you how weak Mr.Gosso is, is that him/his staffing challenged CM Brown's petitions was so weak that it was truly pointless. I am trying to understand the point that they where leading up to.

Now Ms.Brizell, as you know will only challenge someone petition if she has a very strong case, but we will see what happens in the weeks to come. I will be truth full that this At-Large race has very weak candidates(all of them). they have never help the community before running so why put someone in office who only thinks he/she is our savior. they need to be engaged in community and not self severing then I may vote for you.

Also Debbie good luck and my prayer are with you in helping CM Brown back into office.

I am sadly reporting information on how David Grosso's campaign is trying to do a smear campaign on CM Michael Brown.

Yesterday and this morning I received calls from 3 individuals, who circulated CM Brown's petitions, informing me on how they have received person emails from Mr.Grosso. In the emails, Mr. Grosso indicates how he and Dorothy Brizell are challenging CM Brown's Campaign on signatures that were collected. Further, the email states how there is a hearing on the matter next week.

Now for the real kicker-the email goes further to explain how CM Brown is not being transparent (shady) with not sharing the information on who has donated to his campaign. Moreover, the email begs the question of-is this the type of person that we want to represent us down in city hall?

The individuals who have contacted me want to know first, how did Mr. Grosso get their personal email address? Second, does he think by sending this type of emails will cause people to jump ship from CM Michael Brown's Campaign onto his? Third, does Mr. Grosso really believe that sending out emails with Dorothy Brizille's name bring credence to the subject matter?

This is dirty politics!! First and foremost, trying to find an avenue to go down to eliminate someone from the ballot process is one thing. Trying to use someone's personal financial business against them,[CM Brown] (who has made it very public that he has been separated from his wife for years and is going through a divorce) to portray an individual as incompetent is down right wrong. I guess Mr. Grosso goes to church as well, or is he anti-Christ?

We as a people, need to look beyond the negative fabrications of information of certain people's mindset. Of those who deliberately try to destroy a persons character based on a few facts that get blown up and distorted should not be accepted. We as DC, who live in the Nation's Capital, as community leaders, should demand and expect from our city leadership, to set an example for the world to see. Should we allow creative play on words to destroy a persons character when we know it's not right? We need to stand up against anyone who, again, tries to do am anti Fenty act; this should not be tolerated.

The demographics in DC are changing. This is not the Mitt Romney and Obama fight here in local DC politics. If we allow these type of campaign antics to go unchecked, what's next?

One thing for sure, The City Paper, Loose Lips, is printing the facts.

Did you know that Dorothy Brizell has made it known down at city hall how she despises CM Brown? So, again, what is the motive and the supportive facts?

I am supporting CM Michael Brown. I have accepted responsibility to be his Ward 5 Coordinator (an honor). And I am not getting paid!!!
